Job description

Job Mission

New Balance is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our Enterprise AI Solutions team. The team applies AI and automation across the company to improve internal workflows, decision‑making, and operational efficiency across functions such as operations, supply chain, finance, product, and corporate services. The role focuses on designing and building enterprise‑grade automation using agentic AI systems—software agents that plan, coordinate tools, interact with systems, and execute multi‑step workflows with appropriate guardrails.

Major Accountabilities
  • Partner with stakeholders across the enterprise to understand workflows and identify high‑impact opportunities for AI‑driven automation.
  • Design and develop Python‑based services and applications that support enterprise AI and agentic automation use cases.
  • Architect and build APIs and integrations that connect AI systems with internal platforms, tools, and data sources.
  • Lead or contribute to the design of agentic AI workflows, orchestration layers, and evaluation strategies.
  • Write high‑quality, maintainable, and well‑tested code following modern software engineering best practices.
  • Review code, provide technical guidance, and contribute to shared engineering standards.
  • Evaluate emerging AI and automation technologies and make informed recommendations for adoption.
  • Support deployment, monitoring, and iteration of AI‑enabled solutions in production environments.
Requirements for Success
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a closely related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 5–7 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and experience building production‑grade applications or services.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including system design, testing, and version control.
  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Exposure to AI, machine learning systems, or AI‑enabled applications (deep research background not required).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non‑technical partners.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and a pragmatic, outcome‑oriented mindset.
Location & Pay

On‑site work in Brighton, MA three days per week.

Pay Range: $104,500.00 – $155,500.00 annual (actual base pay varies based on experience, time in role, internal equity, geographic location, and more).
