Location: Norfolk, VA (On-site / Primary) Clearance Requirement: Active SECRET (with ability to undergo a T5/Top Secret investigation) Cybersecurity Compliance: DoD 8570 IAT Level II (Mandatory before start date) Position Type: Full-Time, Dual-Hat (40% Development / 30% Systems Admin) Position Overview This is an individual contributor role that perfectly blends software engineering, legacy application support, and enterprise systems administration in a structured, high-stakes DoD environment. Day-to-Day Responsibilities: 40% Software Development: Authoring, refactoring, and maintaining code and scripts (Perl, Java, PowerShell, AutoIt) to optimize system performance and automate background processes. 30% Systems & Database Administration: Configuring Windows Servers, managing enterprise database structures, troubleshooting network routing, and executing application packaging/deployments. 20% Security & Compliance: Implementing DISA STIGs, validating secure coding practices, executing vulnerability remediation, and supporting the Risk Management Framework (RMF) / ATO lifecycles. 10% Collaboration & Technical Writing: Authoring system administration guides, design documents, and technical white papers, as well as interfacing with government program offices. Core OS & Virtualization: Robust experience managing Windows Desktop (10/11), Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), and VMware environments. Database & Scripting Basics: Practical hands-on experience executing commands via iSQL command-line utilities and scripting with PowerShell/Batch. Detailed Technical Requirements Database Engineering: Deep working knowledge of SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) and SAP Replication Server. Ability to manage database replication architecture, write complex stored procedures/triggers, and perform database performance tuning and optimization. Scripting & Languages: Strong multi-language background featuring enterprise Perl scripting, PowerShell, and command-line automation. Systems Administration: Full-lifecycle Windows Server management, Active Directory integration, and fundamental network administration (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and port routing).
