Overview

Job Purpose

We are seeking an Associate Software Developer (Engineer I) to join our innovative development team. In this role, you will contribute to the design and development of Java enterprise applications utilizing frameworks such as Spring Boot. This position will have responsibilities in full life cycle development while taking ownership of specific components and features.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain web applications using Java technologies for backend services and react for frontend development
  • Design and develop RESTful APIs necessary to deliver front-end functionality and/or be consumed by other partners
  • Implement new features and enhancements to existing functionality with moderate guidance
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices and team standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues in both backend and frontend systems
  • Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback
  • Write and maintain unit tests to ensure code quality and functionality using frameworks such as Junit or Mockito
  • Contribute to database design and development using SQL
  • Stay current with Java technologies and frameworks

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 0-2+ years of professional software development experience
  • Proficiency in core Java (OOP, collections, exception handling, multithreading)
  • Experience with Spring or Spring Boot frameworks
  • Proficient with generative AI technologies such as Claude Code and GitHub CoPilot
  • Exposure to Postgres or SQL and relational database concepts
  • Understanding of web application security principles
  • Experience with version control systems (Git)
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

Preferred Knowledge and Experience 

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)
