Job Description Summary

The Lead Engineer / AWS Solutions Architect is a technical leader within the Financial Crimes Technology organization responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing cloud-native solutions on AWS. This role combines solution architecture with hands-on engineering across cloud infrastructure, application development, data engineering, and enterprise integrations. This position follows a hybrid work schedule based in St. Petersburg, FL.

Job Description

This position follows a hybrid work model, with an expectation to be in the office 3 days per week at the St. Petersburg, FL Corporate Office location.

Please note: This role is not eligible for Work Visa sponsorship, either currently or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of secure, scalable, and resilient AWS solutions supporting enterprise Financial Crimes applications.

  • Design cloud-native applications, enterprise data platforms, and integration solutions using modern microservices, serverless, event-driven, and API-based architectures.

  • Develop and optimize enterprise data platforms, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data integration frameworks supporting analytics, reporting, and operational workloads.

  • Define cloud architecture standards, security controls, networking, observability, resiliency, and operational best practices while promoting Infrastructure as Code and DevOps automation.

  • Collaborate with application, data, infrastructure, security, and business teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

  • Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, design guidance, code reviews, mentoring, and adoption of engineering best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Extensive experience designing and implementing enterprise solutions on AWS, including cloud architecture, application development, and data engineering.

  • Strong knowledge of AWS services including compute, storage, networking, security, analytics, integration, and serverless technologies (e.g., S3, Redshift, Lambda, Glue, Step Functions, IAM, VPC, KMS, EMR, Athena, SageMaker, Kafka/MSK).

  • Experience designing cloud-native, microservices, serverless, and event-driven architectures using modern software engineering principles.

  • Strong experience building enterprise data lakes, ETL/ELT pipelines, data integration frameworks, and data warehousing solutions utilizing Medallion Architecture.

  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, REST APIs, cloud integration patterns, and modern software development practices, including CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.

  • Strong understanding of AWS security, networking, monitoring, disaster recovery, and operational excellence following the AWS Well-Architected Framework.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives, influence architecture decisions, solve complex technical challenges, and mentor engineering teams.

  • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and business audiences.

  • Lead architecture discussions and influence strategic technology decisions across multiple teams.

  • Analyze complex problems and develop secure, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions.

  • Balance strategic architecture responsibilities with hands-on implementation and delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Solutions Architect - Associate or Professional certification.

  • Experience with container platforms (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes/EKS), modern analytics technologies, and streaming platforms such as Kafka or Kinesis.

  • Experience in financial services, Financial Crimes, AML, fraud detection, or other highly regulated environments.

  • Experience integrating enterprise applications with third-party cloud platforms and SaaS solutions.
