Job description

Amentum is searching for a Software Developer to join our team in Arlington, VA. You will be working in support of a DoW Special Programs customer developing a new application in AWS GovCloud. The mission is to modernize and sustain a secure, web-based platform that consolidates critical government workflows, enabling automated data management, role-based access control, and multi-level security capabilities in support of national security operations.
Work Schedule:
Work is typically performed, Monday through Friday 8-hour days onsite. Flexibility within a 2-week pay period to reach 80 hours.
Essential Responsibilities:
The Software Developer is responsible for Developing codes, testing, and debugging new software or enhancements to existing software. The Software Developer works with technical staff to understand problems with software and resolve them. Resolves customer complaints about software and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements. Possesses and applies expertise on multiple complex work assignments.
Has good understanding of business applications as well as user, performance, quality, interface, and security requirements. May assist in development of software user manuals. Responsible for desktop design, testing, security lockdown implementation, integration with standard software packages, integration with automated patching and deployment technologies, documentation, and training to include automating application and configuration deployments and updates.
Possesses and applies expertise on multiple complex work assignments. Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks. Operates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems. Contributes to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 50 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.
Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
Minimum of 4 years of experience collectively with the following:
  • Developing, testing, and deploying back-end software in a widely used programming language such as Java, JavaScript, Go, Python, Typescript, and .NET
  • Developing, testing, and deploying Java software using the latest versions of the Java Development Kit
  • Implementing and using backend frameworks such as Java Spring, Nodejs, Go GinAngularJS, React, NextJS, Spring, Nodejs, NestJS, and Gin Spring, Google Web Toolkit, Hibernate, and Struts
  • Software development lifecycle processes to include Agile development
  • Software design patterns and antipatterns
  • Development tools (git, integrated development environment, code quality tools, etc.)
  • Working across multiple teams
  • Experience working in an agile development environment

Security Clearance Required: TS/SCI - This position requires an active DoD TS/SCI security clearance that has been adjudicated in the last 5 years or designated CE and the ability to obtain and maintain special accesses.
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in information systems engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or other related fields. In absence of degree, additional years of experience may be substituted for educational requirements
Minimum Years of Experience: 5-8 Years
Required Certifications:
  • AWS Solutions Architect - Associate (minimum); Professional preferred
  • AWS SysOps Administrator - Associate or AWS DevOps Engineer - Professional
  • Security+ CE

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting a DoW ATO or FedRAMP authorization process
  • Familiarity with DISA STIG compliance requirements and implementation
  • Experience operating PostgreSQL on Amazon RDS including patching coordination and backup/restore validation
  • Experience with Keycloak or equivalent OIDC/SAML identity provider integration in a GovCloud environment
  • AWS Security- Specialty certification
  • Git, GitLab, Terraform, Splunk, HashiCorp Vault, JIRA, Jenkins, Ansible
  • Amazon Web Services GovCloud
  • Microsoft Windows Server and Linux
  • AWS Associate level or above certification
