Position Description
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Manager, Developer to lead and contribute to the design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement of software applications, APIs, databases, and related technology solutions. This role serves as both a people leader and a hands-on technical contributor, guiding a team of developers while participating directly in development efforts across front-end, back-end, and data-focused initiatives.
The Senior Manager, Developer will play a key role in shaping technical direction, establishing engineering standards, and driving execution across multiple projects. In addition to leading and mentoring developers, this individual will actively support architecture, feature development, code review, troubleshooting, and delivery of scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions. This role will work closely with cross-functional partners, including product, sales, marketing, and other business stakeholders, to translate business needs into effective technical solutions and deliver high-quality products aligned to customer and organizational goals.
The ideal candidate is an experienced software leader with strong development capabilities, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for building great products. This person is comfortable balancing team leadership, strategic planning, and hands-on technical execution in a fast-changing environment, while maintaining a strong focus on quality, performance, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a small team of developers across front-end, back-end, and database-focused work, while also contributing directly to software design, development, code review, troubleshooting, and solution delivery.
  • Oversee and participate in the full software development lifecycle, including architecture, feature development, testing, deployment, documentation, maintenance, monitoring, and production support for applications, APIs, and data solutions.
  • Partner with product, business, sales, marketing, and other cross-functional stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize work, and deliver scalable, secure, and high-quality software solutions aligned with customer and business needs.
  • Establish and reinforce engineering standards, development best practices, and technical documentation expectations, while driving continuous improvement in team processes, code quality, and overall delivery effectiveness.
  • Support performance optimization, issue resolution, and operational reliability across systems, including applications, backend services, and databases, with a strong focus on quality, maintainability, and customer impact.

Education: ­­
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Information Systems or related field
Required Skills:
  • Strong software development experience with the ability to lead a team while remaining hands-on in development across web applications, backend services, APIs, and database solutions.
  • Proficiency in technologies such as JavaScript, Python, SQL, and modern web development frameworks, with experience delivering commercial or SaaS-based software products.
  • Solid understanding of application architecture, relational databases, data modeling, query optimization, geospatial objects, and working with large or complex datasets.
  • Experience with cloud platforms and related services, such as AWS or Azure, along with familiarity with deployment, monitoring, containerization, and production support practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and maintain high standards for quality, documentation, and execution.
  • Highly knowledgeable in PostgreSQL, TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python
  • Cloud infrastructure and database experience, including containerized environments, managed databases, network security, and serverless.
  • Other Requirements:
  • Occasional travel to Seattle and elsewhere.
  • To meet the U.S. Government clearance requirements for this opportunity, candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Ability to pass a U.S. Public Trust background investigation for access to the client site and computing systems. You must have lived in the U.S. for the past three (3) years.
