Job description

Position Summary:

The quality control inspector performs inspection of parts, assemblies, products and/or materials for quality, defects, appearance, finishes, variance, and operation through specification or by visual comparison methods. The quality control inspector will be responsible for the documentation of all variable and attribute results, will assist in the development of standardized work instructions / procedures in accordance with our Quality Management System. This role will be actively engaged in many levels of the organization and must be an excellent communicator and educator of GD&T and proper inspection techniques.

To be successful in this position:

  • Perform large and small part inspection on CMM with Calypso software
  • Perform gear geometry measurement with metrology equipment
  • Perform compliance verifications of incoming supplier materials
  • Maintain inspection reports and procedures
  • Understand and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience with reading and understanding engineering drawings, models, work instructions and specifications
  • Can verify component conformance using precision gauges, micrometers and other measuring instruments
  • Have good problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Be collaborative and team oriented
  • Be organized, systematic and detail oriented
  • Can learn from others and follow explicit instruction
  • Have a high level of accountability and pride in your work


Preferred Education / Training / Experience:

  • Associate degree or equivalent technical school and/or minimum 3 years’ experience and/or training
    • Training in quality disciplines and metrology is preferred
  • Combination of education and experience considered
  • Experience operating a CMM
  • Experienced with GD&T

Computer Skills:

  • Calypso (or other CMM programming software)
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Outlook
  • SAP a plus
