If you are a team player with a passion to drive your career in Construction Inspection, Popli Design Group (PDG) is the place for you! PDG is seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector - NICET II to add to our growing and talented team.
We are looking for driven candidates who are eager to acquire invaluable expertise in the realm of Transportation Construction Inspection (TCI) duties, specifically pertaining to transportation projects such as highways, bridges, culverts, and more. This opportunity entails engaging in TCI work on diverse construction projects across different regions within the state, working closely with seasoned field inspectors to provide invaluable support in inspecting and meticulously documenting the contractor's work. Additionally, responsibilities encompass on-site material testing, as well as other necessary activities. In this role, regular duties include conducting precise field measurements, gathering crucial data for daily progress reports, and performing quantity calculations essential for generating accurate progress payment estimates. Proficiency in interpreting plans, excellent communication skills, and a command of various computer software applications are highly desired attributes for this position.
Responsibilities
  • Inspect progress of basic construction operations (Earthwork, Pavement, Structural Components, Scaffolding...)
  • Verify conformance of material with Standard Specifications by carrying out field tests (Concrete, Compaction...)
  • Interpret documented characteristics of objects and materials used in construction
  • Recognize unsafe construction procedures and site conditions.
  • Inspect erosion control and protection of environmental features and utilities.
  • Identify measured and/or tested properties and provide appropriate notification(s) and Report(s).

Requirements
  • Good Organizational Skills.
  • Written and Verbal Communication Skills.
  • Attention to Detail.
  • Microsoft Suite and a willingness and ability to learn new software.

Experience, Education, and Certification
  • Associates Degree (in Civil Engineering/Technology)
  • Bachelor Degree (in Civil Engineering/Technology) - Preferred
  • Prior experience with a Transportation Agency (NYSDOT, NYSTA...)
  • A Valid Driver's License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is required.

Work Environment
  • Construction Project Site(s) and Field Offices. Daily travel to the job site(s) is required.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift and move average weights (15 lb.).
  • Ability to stand / walk on uneven terrain.
  • Ability to work on elevated surfaces / platforms.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
