As a Senior Associate, Software Engineer (Verification), you will be trusted to drive software design, development, and verification activities. You will be trusted to drive the design, execution, review, and approval of software verification deliverables, with a strong focus on ensuring high-quality, compliant solutions for patients and customers onsite at the Goleta, CA location in the Santa Barbara area.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Verification of complex software applications embedded in state-of-the-art ophthalmic instruments in all phases of software development lifecycle including planning, inputs, design, implementation, and testing.
  • Review and approve software documentation throughout the software development life cycle.
  • Write and execute manual system level test cases and procedures.
  • Lead or participate in project teams to facilitate Software Test Planning / Software Verification activities / SQA support.
  • Coordinate software test activities with software development team and other stakeholders.
  • Provide support on other project activities such as training, clinical activities, and audits.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs; M.S.+0 yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English.
  • 2 Years of Relevant Experience

Preferred:

  • Strong knowledge of software development life cycles (Agile, iterative)
  • Experience working in FDA- and ISO-regulated environments for software development and verification.
  • Handson experience with software verification and validation practices

  • Proficiency with software test automation tools such as Ranorex, Selenium, Sikuli, or similar.
  • Familiarity with software configuration management and change management tools.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively in crossfunctional teams.
