Job Summary
As a Shipping & Receiving Associate, you will play a crucial role in managing the flow of goods into and out of our warehouse facility. Your responsibilities will include receiving incoming shipments, verifying their contents, and accurately documenting inventory. Additionally, you will prepare outgoing shipments, ensuring they are properly packaged, labeled, and dispatched to their respective destinations. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will be vital in maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring timely deliveries to our customers.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
o Achieve 100% accuracy in completing all daily shipping and receiving goals.
o Verify and document all shipments and received goods, ensuring accuracy and proper labeling.
o Inspect incoming products for damages, product description, and quantity variances.
o Pick orders and inspect outgoing products for quality and accuracy.
o Pack orders securely to prevent transit damage, using appropriate methods.
o Load, unload, and transport freight, stock, or materials to and from staging or production areas, using appropriate equipment and hand tools.
Inventory and Equipment Management
o Utilize operating system for inventory posting and receipt processes, following established procedures.
o Maintain shipping, receiving, staging, and related areas daily: ensure all inventory is put away orderly, labeled, and note proper locations and discrepancies. Maintain records, adequate stock of shipping supplies, and general cleanliness.
o Monitor and maintain all shipping-related equipment, machines, and supplies inventory.
o Manage discarded products and shipping materials, such as used tires, cradles, batteries, cardboard, and pallets.
Coordination and Communication
o Coordinate with carriers and vendors for deliveries and pickups.
o Communicate effectively with vendors, suppliers, and other company associates.
o Perform deliveries and pickups from suppliers, vendors, and other company locations as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
o Assemble materials and orders, including batteries, attachments, and other items, using hand tools and other equipment.
o Distribute non-inventoried items to appropriate departments and conduct research for unlabeled items.
o Document and process returned goods according to established procedures.
o Acquire basic product knowledge, focusing on weight, height, and overall load capacity.
o Obtain certification to operate specific types of material handling equipment.
o Provide assistance in other areas of the Equipment Distribution Department as needed.
• Perform any other duties as assigned or required to support the company's overall operations and objectives.
Requirements
All potential hires are subject to pre-employment checks which include but are not limited to background checks, drug screenings, and motor vehicle record checks.
• High school diploma or equivalent minimum requirement.
• Demonstrated proficiency in order picking, packing, shipping, and receiving with emphasis on speed and accuracy.
• Excellent prioritization and organizational skills.
• Self-motivated with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and handle stressful workload peaks.
• Ability to comprehend and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
• Basic mechanical aptitude, computer literacy, and general clerical skills required.
• Familiarity with Microsoft applications like Outlook, Word, and Excel is beneficial.
• Previous experience in equipment handling operations and knowledge of hazardous material procedures and guidelines is advantageous.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job unless it causes undue hardship.
This role is classified as heavy work, requiring prolonged periods of standing and walking, particularly during tasks such as loading and unloading shipments, inventory management, and order fulfillment. Physical tasks may involve a variety of activities such as walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching to access items on shelves or pallets. Physical demands include the ability to lift and/or move packages, boxes, or pallets of varying weights, frequently lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds or more. Additionally, the safe operation of material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks to transport heavy items is required. Manual dexterity is essential for handling and manipulating packages, boxes, or materials with precision and care to prevent damage or injury. Operating shipping and receiving equipment, including barcode scanners, label printers, and packaging machinery, also requires manual dexterity.
This role primarily operates within indoor environments such as warehouses or distribution centers, with exposure to oil, grease, and dirt, as well as extreme seasonal temperatures. Occasionally, working in elevated conditions may be necessary. There is potential exposure to hazards related to equipment movement and harmful chemicals/solvents if proper safety procedures are not followed. Noise levels typically range from moderate to high.
