Job description

Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Service Manager to join our Marine team in a field role in the assigned territory of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. In this role you will provide technical support for Retail Customers, Yamaha Dealers, and OEM Boat Builders and may provide support outside of assigned geographic area. This position requires the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across multiple levels.
What you'll be doing:
  • Provide counsel to retail customers through assigned customer relation visits and Yamaha Marine dealers through assigned technical visits.
  • Train new Marine dealers in business operations and processes of Yamaha, including system books and libraries.
  • Plan and execute mini clinics and dealer development visits. Review Marine Link profile(s) to determine recommendations and suggestions for dealer improvement.
  • Communicate on items related to service issues by completing timely Yamaha Customer Relationship Management System (YCRMS) Reports, Monthly Reports and Market Information Reports.
  • Work with District Marketing Managers to improve the dealer network by coordinating assigned Boat Shows and responding to unassigned inquiries.
  • Present annual Marine Technical update seminars, as assigned (i.e., arranging invitations, curriculum training and answering product questions).
  • Provide technical support for the corporate display at boat shows, OEM events, fishing tournaments, and other events, as required.
  • Manage a business travel budget, keeping current and accurate all required expense documentation and maintain company issued vehicles, equipment, and Yamaha supplies.

What you need to be successful:
  • Associates degree (preferably in Marine Technology), or equivalent Marine industry Service certifications.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' Marine industry Service experience, troubleshooting and repairing outboard engines.
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in rigging and maintenance of boat fuel and electrical systems (may run concurrently with Service experience).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) with the ability to effectively navigate and utilize computer systems and business applications.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality customer service while resolving technical issues within a dealership, another division of Yamaha Motor Corporation, or a boat manufacturer preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong administrative and written communication skills.
  • Experience developing and delivering training materials in a classroom setting is preferred.
  • Must be able to consistently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Willing to travel 50% - 75% within assigned territory.
