Job description

Job Summary
The Corporate Security Officer is responsible, for providing a safe and secure work environment for Nassau associates, building tenants, visitors, contractors, and the public, and for protecting Nassau 's physical assets. While also demonstrating an elevated level of professionalism at all times.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Acts as an ambassador to the building, greeting associates, tenants, and visitors with a positive attitude.
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all company associates to maintain a cooperative work environment.
  • Keeps reception area organized and clean.
  • Provides direction/assistance to associates, tenants, and visitors in a timely, professional, and courteous manner.
  • Ensures building and occupant safety. Makes interior and exterior tours of the buildings, parking garages, and grounds, checking for security and safety problems; resolving or reporting such findings as required.
  • Controls access in/out of Nassau facilities by checking associate, visitor, contractor and tenant I.D. Badges, monitoring sign-in sheets, issuing visitor ID badges, and operating the closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV).
  • Operates the computerized security, access control, and alarm systems. Secures interior/exterior doors. Activates/deactivates alarm systems when opening/closing the building.
  • Responds to and conducts initial and continuing investigations of incidents and submitting security incident reports as necessary.
  • Monitors and acts upon building HVAC alarms, fire system alarms, and elevator alarms, providing necessary assistance and documentation.
  • Responds to and be knowledgeable of all emergency procedures.
  • Manages incoming telephone calls in a professional manner and transfers calls as necessary.
  • Available for covering call outs; or in the event of an emergency extending past normal working hours, the ability to remain on the job until relieved.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to interact with associates, tenants, visitors and the public, in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Possess a valid State of Connecticut Guard Card
  • CPR / AED / Basic First Aid Certification, or the ability to pass certification after onsite training is completed.
  • At least 3-5 years of meaningful / verifiable employment in any of, or a combination of the following areas: Security, Law Enforcement, Military, Emergency Management, Customer Service.
  • Knowledge and skill in security access control, alarms, radio, CCTV, and public-address systems.
  • Ability to identify, evaluate and respond to critical issues and situations effectively.
  • Attention to detail and skill in recording data accurately and writing reports.
  • Skill in analyzing problems and making sound decisions.
  • Ability to learn and follow SOP manuals and all emergency procedures (i.e., evacuation, fire, medical, bomb threat, workplace violence, etc.).
  • Must attend and successfully complete all required training.
  • Must have weekend availability.
