Job description

The individual in the Associate Formulation Scientist position will provide technical support for the creation and development of novel formulations and delivery systems for new and existing agricultural active ingredients. The individual will collaborate with cross-functional parters across Corteva R&D to explore and evaluate formulation concepts through proof-of-concept studies, translate promising ideas into practice, and advance successful technologies through the stage-gate pipeline toward business case development and commercialization. The ideal candidate will have foundational training in chemistry, chemical engineering, material science or a related discipline. Experience in formulation development for the agricultural, pharmaceutical, personal care, or related industries is preferred.
Responsibilities:

  • Conduct hands-on laboratory work to explore, prove, and develop novel formulation and delivery system technologies for new and registered agricultural active ingredients.
  • Partner with experienced formulation scientists to develop hypotheses, plan and execute effective experiments, generate reproducible data, interpret results, and refine hypotheses as needed.
  • Apply sound scientific methods to solve technical problems related to formulation chemical/physical stability, active ingredient delivery, product performance, etc.
  • Support the development of products that meet or exceed customer expectations for safety, storage, handling, and application performance.
  • Through hands-on technical work, support investigations of product quality concerns, technical issues, and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Provide in-season formulation preparation support as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners, such as analytical, process development, application technology, biology, regulatory, operations and commercial teams, to support successful product development.
  • Follow all laboratory safety procedures and contribute to a safe working environment.

Requirements:

  • Foundational knowledge or experience in formulation technology, including areas such as colloids, interfacial phenomena, rheology, solids processing etc.
  • Prior experience in research or manufacturing/engineering is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to project goals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to apply scientific principles to technical challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Education
  • BS/MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or related fields with 0-3 years of work experience
