Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery
Virtus Healthcare Staffing is searching for a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our partner's Labor & Delivery/OB unit in Ottumwa, IA. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to provide exceptional care in a supportive environment with an ideal 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio. If you are an experienced L&D nurse ready to make a long-term commitment, we are offering a $15,000 bonus for a two-year commitment.
About the Unit
Our partner's Labor & Delivery/OB unit is a 10-bed unit known for its invitingly warm environment and dedicated medical staff. The team provides comprehensive care with a 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio, ensuring every patient receives personal attention and support. The unit also has pediatric coverage from a Board Certified provider. This is a full-time position that includes a rotating schedule of every third weekend and major holidays.
How You'll Contribute
A Registered Nurse who excels in this role will:
  • Accurately perform patient assessments and identify patient needs.
  • Proactively identify and initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Provide care that is appropriate to the condition and age of the patient.
  • Perform timely and appropriate documentation related to medical necessity in the medical record.
  • Be responsible for the completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
  • Conduct timely and accurate Quality Improvement (QI) assessments.
What We're Looking For
  • Required Qualifications:
    • A current Iowa state RN license.
    • An associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school.
    • A minimum of one year of recent Labor & Delivery experience is required.
    • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) is required upon hire. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) are required within six (6) months of hire.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Two to three years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience.
    • One year of Medical/Surgical or Critical Care nursing experience.
