Position Description: Vighter is recruiting multiple Registered Nurses (RN) with any specialty to provide Float RN and patient care support at the Salt Lake City, UT VA Healthcare System. The Salt Lake City VA Center is rated as a complex medical facility, therefore provides care to Veterans locally and from surrounding states. RNs are responsible to ensure the safety and well-being of all care provided to patients in the facility including proper time out, consent, credentialed staff available, body positioning, documentation of implants or surgical hardware, medication administration, ensuring necessary supply /equipment availability, etc.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments for acutely ill adult patients.

  • Monitor and evaluate patient conditions, vital signs, and responses to treatment.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments in accordance with physician orders and VA policies.
  • Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition or medical emergencies.
  • Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, medications, procedures, and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical record (EMR) documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with VA standards, Joint Commission regulations, infection control guidelines, and patient safety protocols.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education activities.
  • Support a culture of respect, professionalism, and compassionate care for veterans.

Education:

  • Holds a diploma, Associate of Science degree from an NLN accredited university and holds a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in any State.
  • Has and maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certifications.
  • Has been practicing actively as an RN in an acute or long-term setting for at least the last two years.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand or sit for more than 8 hours per day.
  • Must be willing to work overtime if necessary.
  • Must be able to use an elevator or walk up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and carry up to 10 feet.
  • Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders.
  • Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to perform duties in an indoor or outdoor environment.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation.
  • Must undergo urine drug screening (UDS).
