Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Associate Manager for Global Molds Engineering, you will provide Plastic Molds Engineering expertise across global and regional mold and part design projects supporting all major business units. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define optimal part designs for mold construction, operation, and molding processes, while preserving design intent and ensuring overall project success.
Additionally, you will serve as the primary Molds Engineering focal point for global, cross-category initiatives focused on Injection Molding, with additional support for Blow Molding and Thermoforming as needed. To achieve this, you will demonstrate strong personal initiative to build alignment, influence stakeholders, and drive projects to successful outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and support multiple global mold projects by collaborating with mold makers, procurement, RD&E, and processing experts, while driving Design for Manufacturability (DFM) for all plastic component programs.
  • Manage project tasks using SCJ processes, contribute to process improvements, and provide engineering leadership through design reviews, mold design consultations, and adherence to SCJ Mold Design and Construction Standards.
  • Evaluate and engage mold builders, assess their capabilities and participate in site visits.
  • Investigate innovation for mold technologies such as stack molds, collapsing cores, and hot runner systems-for potential application.
  • Oversee Mold Engineering Knowledge Transfer Documents, analyze 3D CAD models for moldability and procurement needs, and coordinate 3D data exchange between product and mold designers.
  • Support project planning by contributing to timelines, milestones, risk mitigation, and execution strategies, including ramp-up plans aligned with capacity requirements.
  • Participate in Design and Process FMEAs, troubleshoot deviations through trade-off and escalation discussions, and advise on mold refurbishment, rebuilds, spares, and lifecycle management.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring expectations align with project objectives.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 5+ years' experience in relevant Engineering, Supply Chain or Manufacturing role and 3-5 years' experience with injection molding technologies .
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
  • Experience in injection mold design, build and component molding.
  • Experience in scientific molding process.
  • 3D CAD Design experience (UG/NX preferred) and / or Mold Flow Simulation.
  • Proven ability to lead/manage across countries, functions, divisions, and management levels.
  • Prior experience in the CPG, Food/Beverage, or Pharmaceutical Industries developing equipment solutions and productivity.
  • Understand business impacts, align work with strategy, and apply Total Cost of Ownership and supply-chain cost drivers to decisions.
  • Able to prioritize work, set objectives, and apply process-oriented methods for consistent project outcomes.
  • Identify options, recommend objectives, and define actionable paths in uncertain situations.
  • Prior experience using formal tools to identify solutions such as, root-cause analysis, data, and risk-management techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance team and individual responsibilities and motivate effective collaboration in dynamic environments.
  • Demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and original thinking to generate new ideas.
  • Key Competencies: Influencing and Strategic Partnership, Problem Solving, Innovation, Teamwork, Dealing with Ambiguity, and Project Management

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Remote work available once a week for eligible employees
  • Full Time position, standard business hours Monday through Friday
  • Domestics Travel 15% - 20%
  • This role is not eligible for relocation.
