Description and Requirements
About the Role:
The EB Account Manager is responsible for managing employee benefits accounts and acts as the primary day-to-day contact for assigned clients. In this role, you will provide consultative guidance and oversee the delivery of services to ensure client satisfaction and compliance with industry standards.
What You'll Do:
  • Manage a book of business, primarily consisting of fully insured clients, with some self-insured plans as applicable.
  • Serve as the main liaison between clients and insurance carriers, delivering proactive and personalized support.
  • Educate and advise clients on employee benefits compliance matters, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, Form 5500 reporting, and Health Care Reform.
  • Set up new group insurance contracts and oversee the annual renewal process, including preparing contractual changes.
  • Implement and manage client programs such as wellness initiatives, communication strategies, and pharmacy programs.
  • Support the marketing and placement of new benefit products, including carrier evaluations, quote analysis, and client recommendations.
  • Develop alternative strategies, plan modeling, and identify cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Champion cross-selling initiatives and contribute to the growth and retention of client relationships.
  • Coordinate, manage, and participate in client meetings, including on-site meetings as needed.
  • Develop employee communications for renewals, enrollment, and benefit changes, and provide oversight and resolution support for client issues such as contract interpretation and billing.
  • Stay up to date on industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging employee benefits trends.

What We're Looking For:
  • 2+ years of experience in employee benefits or a related marketplace.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Strong, practical understanding of employee benefit plan design, funding arrangements, and compliance requirements.
  • Active Life and Disability insurance license or the ability to obtain one within 4 months of employment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and internet-based applications.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, exercising professional judgment while balancing multiple priorities.
  • Skilled at reviewing complex information and developing client-focused solutions.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to self-review work for accuracy.
