About This Position

The Associate Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer performs manual testing, assists in automation testing, and helps maintain test cases in Qase. Under guidance from more experienced QA team members, this role executes test plans, documents results, logs defects, and learns to troubleshoot issues across Linux and Windows systems, while developing knowledge of the company’s software applications and integrated systems. QA Engineers must be comfortable shifting focus quickly to meet changing priorities and requirements and may also perform targeted QA in production environments to verify file changes or review configuration work prior to client delivery. This position requires attention to detail, curiosity, and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment.

Most testing focuses on the company’s clientfacing web GUI, which integrates phone, video visitation, and other service management functions. The role also includes testing other internal and external GUIs, as well as standalone phone and video visitation. Outofcycle features and fixes may require rapid testing and deployment. Other duties may be assigned as determined by the needs of the business.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Execute predefined manual test cases for the client-facing web GUI, including integrated and standalone phone, video visitation, and TTY/VRS systems, while reviewing logs (Linux CLI: grep, tail, log parsing) and monitoring for errors.
  • Perform testing for standalone phone, video visitation, TTY/VRS, and other internal/external GUIs that may be deployed outside the standard monthly release cycle, with corresponding log and metrics review.
  • Maintain and update Qase test cases, execute test runs, and log new defects.
  • Contribute to test automation by running automated test suites and assisting in creating or maintaining Python/Playwright scripts, with log and metrics review during test execution.
  • Perform targeted QA checks in production environments, such as verifying file changes or reviewing configuration work before client delivery.
  • Other duties as assigned in support of quality assurance activities.

  • Preferred Bachelor’s Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or up to one (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Entry level, including internships, industry-recognized QA bootcamps, or academic projects. Focus on learning processes, tools, and applying QA fundamentals.
  • Basic understanding of software testing concepts and defect tracking.
  • Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems and command line interface (CLI).
  • Proficiency in, or ability and willingness to quickly learn, Python, Playwright, Qase, GitLab, API testing using Postman, and other QA tools.
  • Familiarity with relational database concepts and ability to perform basic queries using CLI or tools like DBeaver.
  • Professional, concise verbal and written communication.
  • Effective collaboration and teamwork in a remote setting.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • Ability to read and follow technical documentation.
