Purpose:
Lead and/or oversee projects and key deliverables for Corporate Underwriting activities thereby ensuring that the fundamental tenets of Quality Assurance and Risk Management are realized throughout the Pricing & Underwriting Division.
Roles & Responsibilities:
โ€ข Maintains and oversees the company's Underwriting Management Ecosystem as it pertains to a) composition of the current portfolio; b) underwriting strategies for target portfolio; c) underwriting authorities in line with underwriting competencies; d) quality assurance processes; and e) referral requirements to manage the portfolio.
โ€ข Serves as the Team Lead for the annual Business Continuity Plan for the Pricing and Underwriting Division which includes core process identification for each department in the division in cooperation with IRM.
โ€ข Conducts Delegated Underwriting Authority (DUA) Reviews to ensure users of DUA are making business decisions in accordance with the level of authority granted.
โ€ข Oversees annual Large Deal Referral analyses for distribution partners who have $35mm or more in Written Premium and/or $100mm or more in catastrophe exposure in order to mitigate accumulation risk.
โ€ข Ensures the companywide Underwriting Strategy remains updated and reflects the organization's underwriting risk appetite including the annual monitoring of all Delegated Underwriting Authority Letters of Authority for internal associates & external agency partners.
โ€ข Evaluate risks by analyzing financial data and assessing risk factors in support of the company operating within its underwriting risk tolerance in accordance with the AMIG Underwriting Strategy.
โ€ข Create and assess processes that optimize underwriting risk to drive results thereby enabling sustainable, predictable profit to include devising early warning systems that drive strategy.
โ€ข Consult with business stakeholders using design thinking principles, conduct in depth analysis of complex problems or opportunities and develop data-driven proof of concepts to inform and support strategic decision making.
โ€ข Develop guidelines, models, best practices, quality assurance standards and methods to include identifying and understanding emerging risks and market trends thereby enabling proactive market cycle management.
โ€ข Use business intelligence tools and data visualization techniques to represent data in support of effective financial story telling thereby positioning the identification of trends and the development of preventative action to drive profitability. โ€ข Conduct data driven analyses by leveraging risk-based methodology
โ€ข Participate in the annual cycle of Risk Control Self-Assessment as it pertains to conformance with the Operational Risk Control System relative to the development, monitoring and modifying of operation controls.
Required Technical Skills:
Advanced experience with MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
Education, Certification, & Designations:
Bachelor's degree with a major in business, finance, risk management or related area with additional insurance and management related coursework or competencies gained through Underwriting, Audit or Finance experience.
