Associate Project Leader information

What is an associate project leader?

Associate Project Leaders are professionals who assist in planning, executing, and closing projects under the guidance of a Project Leader or Manager. They help coordinate project activities, manage timelines, communicate with stakeholders, and ensure project deliverables are met within scope, budget, and schedule. Associate Project Leaders often serve as a bridge between team members and upper management, helping to resolve issues and keep the project on track. This role is ideal for those looking to gain experience in project management and develop leadership skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an associate project leader, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Associate Project Leader, you need strong project management skills, organizational abilities, and typically a bachelor’s degree in business, management, or a related field. Familiarity with project management tools like Microsoft Project, Asana, or Trello, and sometimes a certification like CAPM or PMP, is highly beneficial. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills help you coordinate teams and manage stakeholder expectations. These skills are crucial for delivering projects on time, within scope, and ensuring team alignment throughout the project lifecycle.

What is the difference between Associate Project Leader vs Project Coordinator?

The Associate Project Leader typically has more responsibility in project execution and team leadership compared to a Project Coordinator, who mainly handles administrative and logistical tasks. Both roles require strong organizational skills, but the Associate Project Leader often participates more actively in decision-making and project management processes.

How does an associate project leader typically collaborate with cross-functional teams during a project?

As an Associate Project Leader, you will frequently coordinate with cross-functional teams such as engineering, marketing, finance, and operations to ensure project milestones are achieved on schedule. This involves facilitating regular meetings, clearly communicating project goals, tracking progress, and addressing any roadblocks that arise. Effective collaboration requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills, as you’ll often need to gather input from various stakeholders and align team efforts with overall project objectives.

Job description

Every day, somewhere in the world, important decisions are made. Whether it is a private equity firm deciding to invest into a business or a large corporation implementing a new strategic direction, these decisions impact employees, customers, investors, and other stakeholders. Consulting and private equity firms come to proSapient when they need to discover knowledge to help them make great decisions and succeed in their goals. It is our mission to support them in their discovery of knowledge. Specifically, we help our clients find industry experts who can share their knowledge via 121 interviews or wider market surveys: we curate this knowledge in a market-leading software platform, and we help clients surface knowledge through additional value-added tools and services.

Our clients tell us that proSapient differentiates itself through tech-led innovation and great customer service. We have grown rapidly over the last seven years and now have five offices that serve over 100 clients in Europe and North America.

We've had a record breaking year (and we're not quite finished yet!) with an even bigger 2026 planned, and so, we are on the lookout for enthusiastic & experienced project leaders to join the team in our Toronto office. In this role, you will have an emphasis on overseeing the effective execution of client requested projects. This is a revenue driven role - driving a small team of individuals to proactively source and find the best subject matter experts on a high-volume global scale, and connecting them with our clients.

This is a great opportunity to help shape our success story and join at an incredibly exciting chapter in proSapient history - if you are a can-do, energetic and pragmatic individual with proven experience of delivering results and success - we want to hear from you!

  • Champion the full proSapient product service suite (I.e., Surveys) maximizing opportunities to cross-sell and offer solutions to our clients to increase usage and market share.
  • Proactively seek and share Client feedback to better understand pain points and opportunities to increase users that will continually improve our service.

Team Management:

  • Lead Associates and Senior Associates throughout the project lifecycle and be accountable for output metrics of the team throughout each day – with particular emphasis on KPI's
  • Provide guidance to and coach Associates and Senior Associates on how and where they can improve in both the near term (immediate project delivery), and over the longer-term (skills development).
  • Proactively and constructively identify solutions to address project challenges (in collaboration with the Manager in more complex instances) to promptly implement solutions that rapidly get projects back on track. Act as a proSapient values champion clearly and consistently demonstrating and encouraging our outlined behaviours and values that drive success.

Requirements

  • Industry expertise: given the key focus of our project types, previous experience of working in the Expert Network or wider research industry is mandatory for this role
