Job description

Position Summary: The Associate Project Engineer is a post-sales engineering role responsible for supporting the successful execution of awarded projects. This position translates design intent into coordinated, build-ready documentation and supports the project lifecycle from design finalization through commissioning and turnover.
Working closely with Solutions Architects, Project Managers, and field teams, this role focuses on BOM validation, CAD documentation, system coordination, and technical support. This is a growth-oriented, associate-level role designed to build strong fundamentals in both AV systems and IT/network-aware integration.
Key Responsibilities:
Post-Sales Engineering & Design Support
  • Support Solutions Architects and/or Design Engineers during post-award design phases and design contracts.
  • Validate Bill of Materials (BOM) for accuracy, completeness, and constructability.
  • Assist in refining system designs based on site conditions, coordination feedback, and project constraints.
  • Perform on-site field verification and to confirm existing conditions, infrastructure readiness, device locations, and constructability prior to finalizing design documentation.
  • Prepare and support equipment submittals for client, architect, and/or consultant approval.
Technical Documentation & CAD Drawings
  • Develop and maintain detailed AV system documentation including:
    • Signal flow diagrams
    • System schematics (single-line diagrams)
    • Rack elevations
    • Ceiling and floor device plans
    • Riser diagrams
    • Cable schedule and connection details
  • Produce coordination drawings in AutoCAD (Revit a plus) aligning AV systems with architectural, electrical, and mechanical designs.
  • Oversee and coordinate with 3rd party Revit operators as needed to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with architect's standards.
  • Incorporate redlines and maintain accurate as-built drawing packages.
  • Organize and maintain structured drawing file systems and documentation standards.
Coordination & Construction Integration
  • Review architectural and MEP documentation and provide markups for coordination.
  • Specify and coordinate conduit pathways, power requirements, and mounting conditions.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with internal teams, clients, and other trades.
  • Ensure AV systems are properly integrated within the broader IT/network and building infrastructure.
Technical Project Support
  • Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including:
    • Responding to RFIs
    • Supporting procurement and field teams with technical clarification
    • Assisting with system troubleshooting during installation
  • Participate in site surveys and field verification when required.
  • Support system testing and commissioning activities to validate performance against design intent when required.
Client Support & System Delivery
  • Support development of system documentation including user guides and operation manuals.
  • Ensure a smooth transition from project delivery to service and support teams.
Quality Assurance & Standards
  • Ensure all deliverables meet DBE Systems standards and industry best practices.
  • Maintain high accuracy in drawings and documentation (low error rate expectations).
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering templates, standards, and workflows.
Technology Development
  • Develop working knowledge of AV systems, signal flow, and integration best practices.
  • Build foundational understanding of IT/network concepts including VLANs, IP addressing, QoS, and AV-over-IP.
  • Stay current on leading AV manufacturers (Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Q-SYS, etc.) and collaboration platforms (Microsoft, Zoom, Webex).
Compliance and Ethics
  • Adhere to company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Promote a culture of integrity and responsibility within the company.

Salary Range: $90k-$105k will be based on capability and experience
