Smith Services, a division of Timken Motor & Services, is part of the largest electric motor, controls and generator repair group in the Northeast, providing electric motor repairs, electric motor rewinds, custom controls and panels, systems integration, pump services, machine rebuilds, hydro services, safety-related services, energy efficiency solutions, and diagnostic services for commercial and industrial applications.
Smith Services is currently seeking a Project Manager to provide support of operations at the Princeton, WV site.
The Project Manager will lead end-to-end delivery of high-value Drivetrain and other specialized operational build projects. This role owns the project lifecycle from initiation through closeout, facilitating customer and internal meetings and reviews, identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring successful contract execution. The Project Manager is responsible for technical and management reporting-including design data, reports, and schedules-overseeing vendor and supply-chain activities, and maintaining clear schedule and communication continuity with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities Include:
Plans, organizes, controls, and directs company projects to ensure successful accomplishment of technical design, financial goals, and production and delivery objectives.
Provides a single point of contact on project or program activities for both the customer and the company as well as coordinating project planning to ensure the identification of appropriate schedules, design efforts, costs, and other considerations.
Coordinates project details with a wide variety of individuals and functions within the Timken Power Systems division leading to successful execution and conclusion.
Reviews potential changes in scope and advises management and/or the customer of the impact.
Negotiates cost and schedule modifications, as well as develops and writes project plans, and assists and/or coordinates the preparation of cost and technical proposals in response to company requirements.
Coordinates and conducts production and project activities and meetings, schedules, internal meetings and customer presentations as required, and prepares and manages project budgets and expenses.
Travel to support projects.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Technical, Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering
Demonstrated professional project management skills with a minimum of 5 years of experience, 10 years preferred
Electrical and mechanical background is required
Proficient communication skills (oral & written)
Writing and communication skills required for internal reporting company management and external reporting to customers/clients
Project scheduling software expertise
Supply chain and vendor management experience with effective price negotiation skills and cost control measures
Technical aptitude to effectively understand, plan and communicate project scope and technical aspects
Fundamental knowledge of workplace safety
Valid driver's license
Willingness to travel 20%
Willingness to continue professional development through training / classes / seminars
