JOB DESCRIPTION - PROJECT MANAGER

Ste Marie is an internationally recognized concept development and interior design studio with offices in Vancouver and Toronto. We develop hospitality, mixed-use, food and beverage, wellness and commercial projects for renowned clients domestically and internationally. We see the world through the lens of hospitality, constantly prioritizing the human experience in our work.

We offer end-to-end design services from concept development, brand ideation, interior design, FF&E selection, procurement and coordination, and art and styling services.

ROLE:

As Project Manager you have expertise in Interior Design and/or Construction for Hospitality and/or Hi-Rise Residential sectors. You will combine creativity and technical knowledge with your deep understanding of these industries to execute functionally beautiful spaces for our clients.

Supporting the design team, you will lead in executing design solutions and coordinating projects through the design development, construction documentation, and construction administration phases of a project. Utilizing project management best practices, a proven track record of experience in design and construction, problem-solving, great communication & supportive leadership, the Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the scope of work, supporting the execution of the work by coordinating the team, initiating quality control throughout the process and closing out projects successfully.

This role is pivotal in ensuring the team follows best practices and agreed-upon processes, balancing accurate execution of the design intent with managing our contracts scope and teams resources to ensure project profitability. You will seek to constantly improve Ste Maries project management and technical standards. The Project Manager role is both external client facing and internal design team facing to manage the project scope and successful outcomes.

The successful candidate can translate concepts and design documentation into clear instruction for project stakeholders, researching artistic and technical issues as questions arise. Your work ethic, combined with your commitment to collaboration and mentoring, will play an integral role in the execution of conceptually driven excellence in design.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Works closely with the Associate and Technical Directors to understand the design of the project, the contract details, and the clients consulting teams technical needs and how these affect the project execution.

  • Follows design and construction best practices, ensuring clients expectations are managed professionally regarding any additional fees that may be required.

  • Manage technical phases of Ste Marie projects, DD, CD and CA phases and is responsible for the efficiency of technical phases of the project as measured by quality, efficiency and profitability.

  • Responds to client questions and relays information to Ste Marie design team in a timely and concise manner.

  • Delegate tasks to team members when required, in coordination with the projects Associate.

  • Manage procedures and documents pertaining to construction drawings including construction drawing coordination, trackers, internal & external communication.

  • Attend site meetings to monitor progress and quality of work. Prepare field reviews and/or deficiency reports.

  • Provides Project cost analysis and project budget coordination with the internal team and finance.

  • Provides Account Receivable support and coordination with clients, when required.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • 2+ years experience as a Project Manager with Interior Design and/or Architecture projects for Multi-Residential, F&B or Hotel / Hospitality.

  • A great leader, team player, a strong and positive communicator, and particularly skillful in managing communications, personalities, time and quality.

  • Complete understanding of the interior design/construction workflow and technical specifics.

  • Able to read and understand technical documentation, able to provide feedback to various internal and external stakeholders.

  • Thrive in a fast-paced work environment and manage obstacles and tight deadlines with a positive attitude that inspires the broader team.

  • An ability to understand and embody the Ste. Marie perspective, design process and approach to our clients, our projects and our studio.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is an asset.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
