Job Description

Position Purpose: 

Associate Project Engineer - Performs commissioning of electrical systems. Must be a self-motivated & energetic professional. Must be willing to learn electrical systems design & construction. Must be willing to learn commissioning process of electrical systems ranging in size, rating and complexity. Candidate will be responsible for reviewing project information; executing daily field activities; maintaining project documentation; and assisting the Project Engineer. This role requires the candidate to have organizational skills, a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and adapt, and is expected to work well in a team environment.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Commission electrical distribution equipment and related controls, primarily in data center environments, including medium voltage systems.
  • Assist with preparing plans and procedures for execution of the commissioning process.
  • Conduct commissioning activities from the design phase through the occupation phase, in accordance with client requirements and industry commissioning process best practices.
  • Attend factory testing of equipment and document procedures and results.
  • Conduct functional testing of equipment and measure results using test instrumentation.
  • Fully document all field procedures including results, issues and observations either via company provided templates or online applications.
  • Comment on equipment & system performance.
  • Assist with submitting and maintaining daily commissioning reports.
  • Comply with company, client, and project safety requirements.
  • Be willing and able to learn about and perform basic functional tests on building equipment, including, but not limited to:
    • Generator
    • Medium / Low Voltage Transformer (XFMR)
    • Battery Systems
    • Low Voltage Switchgear (SWGR)
    • Low Voltage Main Switchboards (MSB)
    • Automatic and Semi-Automatic Switching Controls
    • Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS)
    • Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS)
    • Power Distribution Unit (PDU)
    • Busways
    • Remote Power Panel (RPP)
    • Grounding Systems
    • Lighting Control Systems

Work Environment:

  • Travel nationwide 50% - 80% if not assigned locally; may have periods of higher travel expectation.
Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background: 

  • AE/BSc in Electrical Engineering with less than one year with mission critical project experience

OR

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in commissioning with mission critical project experience, or relevant and applicable industry experience.
