Job Description:
The Department of Communication and Media at the University of Toledo invites applications for an Associate Professor of Communication & Media in Social Media & Digital Communication position.
The Associate Professor's key responsibilities will include the following: teaching and developing undergraduate courses in social media strategies and analytics, crisis communication, research methods, communication and media theory, as well as core courses within the curriculum.
In addition to teaching courses, other duties include maintaining a productive research agenda that connects emerging communication technologies and social media practices to human communication; sustaining an active scholarly agenda with evidence of work leading to archival publications in high-impact venues and contributing to student recruitment.
In this position, the Associate Professor will be committed to providing students with an active, supportive learning environment, advancing knowledge through theoretically and practically significant scholarship, and contributing to the excellence of our university community. This position will be responsible for shaping the curriculum, fostering industry connections, and engaging in departmental service.

Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Communication or a related field and at least 4 years of experience at the assistant professor level Is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have the following:
• demonstrated record of accomplishment in professional activity (research, scholarship, and/or creative activity), as well as a strong indication of continued future productivity in this area.
• distinguished record of scholarly research, creative activity, and teaching excellence in social media, digital communication, or interactive media.
• Applicants with both professional and academic experience in communication are preferred. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is preferable but not required.
• A record of service on department, college, and university committees. Candidates with experience in leadership roles are desirable.
