Description
The University of Chicago Crown School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice (Crown Family School) invites applications for one or more faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or Associate Professor (tenured) from scholars whose work advances the science of direct social work practice. Successful applicants will be engaged in theoretically grounded, empirically driven, and methodologically rigorous scholarship that advances knowledge relevant to social work practice.
The successful applicant's research agenda may focus on prevention, intervention, implementation, service delivery, community-based practice, or related approaches. We welcome applicants whose scholarship addresses a broad range of substantive areas, practice settings and populations, particularly those that complement the School's curricular pathways.
The successful applicant's scholarship should be relevant to the mission of the School and the social work profession, with the potential for securing research funding commensurate with their scholarly agenda. Successful applicants will be prepared to teach direct practice courses and mentor students at all levels, primarily at the master's and doctoral levels.
The anticipated start date is July 1, 2027, or after.

Qualifications
Applicants must possess a doctorate (or have a doctorate by the date of appointment) in social work or a related field. An MSW degree is preferred. At least two years of post-master's direct practice experience is also preferred. Successful candidates will have an interest in and ability to teach direct practice courses.

Candidates should submit a cover letter (no longer than two pages), a Curriculum Vitae, a statement that details research and teaching interests, and two writing samples that best represent the applicant's approach. Applicants at the dissertation stage must include part of their dissertation as one writing sample. Candidates should indicate which rank (Assistant or Associate) they are applying to within the cover letter. Contact information for at least three references must also be included; references will be contacted to request a letter of reference after an initial review of submitted materials, and candidates will be notified prior to contact.
