Provide administrative and ancillary research support in the research section in the Department of Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology. Contribute to the efficient operations within the business suite, and to the assistance of research faculty, administration, and other office associates and supporting staff. Support departmental research endeavors, including the coordination of laboratory ordering and billing; equipment inventory; lab relocations; common equipment use and maintenance; decontamination and sterilization facility; and scientific alarm response (on-call duty).

- Able to be on-call and carry a pager for freezer alarms.
- Expert knowledge of the principles of office management/procedures as applied to effective organization of office and department operations, as well as ability to plan and organize the workflow in a busy office environment.
- Excellent computer skills, including experience with word processing, database and spreadsheet software programs required.
- Excellent customer service abilities, including the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, as well as to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, department administrative staff, interdepartmental contacts and the general public.
- Ability to be self-directed in accomplishing the coordination and decision making responsibilities of this position, and be resourceful in problem solving and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to be organized and flexible in response to changing demands, handling a high volume of work under pressure.
- Computer experience required.

- Ability to handle sensitive information relating to personnel records, laboratory results, research materials, etc. and keep information confidential.
