Location: 401 Taylor Avenue, Gordonsville, VA 22942
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay Rate: $16.00
Shift: Monday to Friday 10:00AM - 6:30PM

FM Expressions is looking for a Shipping Associate to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, packing, labeling, and shipping customer orders while ensuring shipments are accurate, properly packaged, and ready for on-time delivery.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment. This position also works closely with production, bindery, customers, and shipping carriers to ensure orders move smoothly from our facility to the customer.

What You'll Do
  • Prepare, pack, label, and ship customer orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Inspect shipments and finished goods for damage, defects, or quality concerns and report discrepancies.
  • Assemble cardboard containers and package products according to established specifications.
  • Sort, count, package, label, and log inventory and shipments.
  • Apply required date codes, lot numbers, and shipping labels.
  • Prepare and record shipment weights for boxes and orders.
  • Coordinate shipment pickups with carriers such as FedEx and UPS.
  • Communicate with customers regarding freight quotes and approved shipping methods.
  • Prepare commercial invoices and other documentation for international shipments when needed.
  • Place completed orders in the designated delivery area for pickup.
  • Receive distributors and document their visits.
  • Communicate packaging concerns with the Bindery Department and report finished-good quality issues to the appropriate supervisor or lead.
  • Use shipping and computer systems to accurately record and process orders.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and properly use required equipment and PPE.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
  • Previous shipping, warehouse, production, or related experience preferred.
  • Ability to follow instructions and established procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to work with shipping and office software.
  • Familiarity with FedEx Manager, UPS WorldShip, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat is a plus.
  • Professional and respectful communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also communicating effectively with supervisors, leads, customers, and other departments.
  • Strong focus on accuracy, safety, and quality.
Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on position in a production and shipping environment. The Shipping Associate must be able to:

  • Stand for extended periods of time.
  • Bend, twist, reach overhead and below the knees, pull, and maneuver throughout the work area.
  • Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of various sizes and weights.
  • Perform tasks requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Visually inspect products, equipment, and information, including small print.
  • Lift, move, load, and place items weighing up to 50 pounds at a time.
Work Environment

FM Expressions operates in a well-ventilated and well-lit facility. The shipping environment can range from moderate to loud noise levels and requires employees to remain on their feet for extended periods.

Employees may occasionally work around moving mechanical equipment, machinery, fumes, chemicals, and varying temperatures. Because shipping operations take place around large equipment and production areas, following safety procedures and maintaining good safety habits are essential.

Why Join FM Expressions?

At FM Expressions, you’ll be part of a team that plays an important role in getting our customers' orders out the door accurately and on time. We value teamwork, safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement, and we provide the tools and training needed to help our employees succeed.
