Position: 2nd Shift Production Lead

Location: 1924 Chespark Drive, Gastonia, NC 28052

Schedule: Monday through Friday 3pm to 11:30pm


Under the Supervision of the Production Manager, the Lead directs activities of the 2nd Shift at the facility in accordance with Pacor policies and procedures. Directs production activities to ensure on time shipment in a cost-effective manner consistent with customer specifications, ISO quality and OSHA safety standards. Responsible for training & mentoring associates to meet production goals while focusing on safety, quality, on-time delivery & profitability. Work with the Production Manager & HR to maintain good management-associate relations, which includes working to resolving concerns and document issues.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:


PRODUCTION CONTROL:

  • Ensure orders are produced to customer specification and ship timely
  • Ensure associate production efficiencies to meet or exceed estimates
  • Ensure production and material handling is done in a safe manner in accordance with company policies
  • Coordinate schedule of material, manpower & machines with Production Planner / Production Manager
  • Ensure the proper recording of material transactions and labor time (work orders/Isolved) in ERP system
  • Drive quality in compliance with ISO SOP's. Work with Production Mgr. on any Corrective Actions to find root cause and sustain corrections


MANPOWER SUPERVISION:

  • Responsible for ensuring adequate staffing for production requirements including:
  • Training (Maintain Matrix) for Production Associates
  • Timely feedback for Production Associates - Inform Production Mgr. for coaching feedback
  • Proper documentation of disciplinary issues in coordination with HR and Production Mgr.
  • Maintain & increase efficiency through proper manpower utilization.
  • Review & approve time and attendance under the supervisor of HR and Production Manager
  • Help sustain and improve associate morale.


MATERIAL CONTROL:

  • Supervise Material Handling & Shipping/Receiving personnel to drive/improve efficiencies & accuracy
  • Ensure orders are packaged & shipped to customer specification
  • Ensure material usage to meet or exceed estimates
  • Work with Production Planner & Purchasing to ensure adequate & quality material for production needs
  • Safeguard inventory by proper storage & timely cycle counting


SAFETY/QUALITY:

  • Supervise and ensure the safety and quality of the facility in accordance with company policies
  • Participate in the safety committee. Perform daily toolbox talks and coordinate safety training including documentation as required
  • Ownership of customer driven quality requirement
  • Self-development including training in safety, quality & IT skill

Requirements

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or leadership training preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing/production environment (lead or supervisory role preferred).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and make quick, sound decisions.
  • Knowledge of safety, quality, and lean manufacturing practices is a plus.
  • Willingness to work 2nd shift and occasional overtime as needed.



PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient with MS Office
  • ERP/MRP experience/skillset
  • Adept communication skills
  • Ability to read a ruler within 1/16 inch accurately
  • Knowledge of using a calculator
  • Basic math skills, including calculating linear/square footage and work with fractions
  • Read/Understand blueprints
  • Physical Demands
  • Stand, walk, kneel and climb as needed
  • Regularly lift up to 50lbs with or without assistance
  • Climb up to eight feet on occasion
  • Ability to communicate clearly with other associates and contract labor
