Associate Production Editors are professionals who support the editorial and production processes of books, journals, or other publications. They typically coordinate with authors, copy editors, and designers to ensure that content is prepared, formatted, and published according to schedule and quality standards. Their responsibilities often include proofreading, fact-checking, managing corrections, and tracking the progress of manuscripts through various stages of production. Associate Production Editors play a crucial role in maintaining publication timelines and upholding editorial standards.

Job description

Job Description :

About The Post: The New York Post delivers the best in news, sports, entertainment, pop culture and shopping, with wit, irreverence and authority across print, digital, video, audio, app and commerce.

The Role: We're hiring an Associate Commerce Editor for the revenue-generating commerce team. This is not a business reporting role. In this dynamic, expanded position, you will balance daily writing with foundational editing responsibilities, serving as a critical bridge between our reporting and editing desks. You will be responsible for writing a minimum of two short-form deal stories per day, continuing to publish fast, useful shopping stories that drive revenue and taking ownership of editing daily deals, updating evergreen posts and stepping up to manage larger packages when needed.

This role is ideal for a prolific commerce reporter ready to hone their editorial judgment, refine their packaging skills and take on emerging leadership responsibilities across the New York Post Digital Network.

What You'll Do:
Write a baseline of 2-3 commerce stories per shift (deals, explainers, how-tos and buyer's guides) that drive conversions, ensuring consistent daily revenue-generating output.
Edit 15+ fast-turn deals and standard shopping content daily from reporters. Move copy from draft to live with speed, ensuring clean formatting, airtight affiliate linking and FTC compliance.
Take point on executing sponsored content and flat-fee product placements, seamlessly weaving revenue-driven partnerships into daily coverage while maintaining reader trust and the iconic Post voice.
Step in to report, write or co-edit larger, high-priority features and tentpole packages
(Prime Day, Black Friday, Cyber Week) as assigned by leadership.
Share ownership of the evergreen strategy. Audit and update top-performing posts for price, stock and SEO/AEO/GEO optimization to maximize long-tail revenue.
Write sharp, on-brand headlines (providing 3-5 variants for testing). Begin providing actionable, constructive feedback to reporters to maintain voice and standards.
Monitor performance dashboards to iterate headlines, framing and placement. Pitch high-intent stories based on search data, real-time signals and competitor coverage.

How We Measure Success:
Output Balance: Consistent daily writing output (2-3 stories) combined with reliable, rapid editing of assigned copy and on-time handoffs.
Quality & Accuracy: Clean copy (both written and edited), rigorous fact-checking, zero avoidable corrections and strict link hygiene.

Impact: Measurable lift in CTR, conversion rates, revenue per session and search visibility for both authored and edited pieces.
Ownership: Demonstrated progress in editorial decision-making, proactive pitching and the ability to seamlessly pivot between writing and editing mindsets.

What You'll Bring:
Professional experience commensurate with an associate-level role in features, news or commerce writing, backed by a portfolio of strong clips and early experience (or a demonstrated aptitude) for editing.
Obsession with the commerce landscape, reader value and producing service-oriented content with a commercial focus.
Command of the iconic NY Post voice and a proven track record of writing crisp, authoritative headlines.
Working knowledge of SEO, AEO and GEO, plus social media best practices.
Comfort reading dashboards (Search Console, GA4, Looker or similar) and using data to pivot quickly to trends or live news without losing accuracy.
CMS fluency and sharp attention to detail, including mastery of AP style and
FTC-compliant disclosures.
A collaborative, growth-oriented mindset - highly organized, adaptable and ready to take on coaching responsibilities.

Nice to Have
Hands-on familiarity with affiliate dashboards and networks (Amazon Associates, Skimlinks or similar), project management platforms and SEO tools.
Experience jumping between categories and services that help shoppers protect value.
Deeper understanding of AEO, GEO and AI overviews.
Newsletter experience.

Note: The New York Post adheres to an on-site work model. This role will be expected to report into the office 5 days per week.
