Job description

CORPORATE PLANNING & MANAGEMENT

Corporate Planning & Management (CPM) is a central strategic function at Goldman Sachs, responsible for driving firmwide operational excellence, business planning, and the infrastructure that enables the firm to operate with strength, resiliency, and agility. CPM partners across every division to deliver scalable solutions, optimize business processes, and position the firm for sustainable growth. Our teams combine deep institutional knowledge with forward-looking innovation to ensure Goldman Sachs remains at the forefront of operational efficiency and strategic execution.

The CPM Division unifies Finance & Planning, Spend Management, Operational Risk and Resilience, and partner with Engineering teams to deliver business planning and analytics, expense management, third-party risk management, and governance strategies across the firm. Within Spend Management, the Source to Pay function encompasses Strategic Sourcing, Procure to Pay, Integrated Travel and Expense, Infrastructure and Transformation, and Sustainable Operations - managing all aspects of the firm's spend with third parties, advising on commercial agreements, and driving operating efficiency.

CONTRACT LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT (CLM) PRODUCT MANAGEMENT

Within CPM, the Source to Pay function oversees the end-to-end lifecycle of procurement and payables - from sourcing and vendor management through purchasing, invoicing, and payment. We are committed to transforming this critical business capability through modern platforms, intelligent automation, and AI-driven innovation, ensuring our internal stakeholders have seamless, transparent, and efficient tools to manage the firm's spend. The Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) team is specifically focused on optimizing the end-to-end contracting process-including contract intake, drafting, negotiation, approvals, execution, repository management, obligation tracking, and renewal/termination lifecycles-across the firm using our proprietary, in-house built CLM platform.

YOUR IMPACT

Are you an emerging product professional passionate about transforming enterprise contract management through technology, automation, and AI? Goldman Sachs is seeking an Associate, Product Management to join the Corporate Planning & Management division, focused on our proprietary, in-house built Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) platform within Source to Pay.

Professionals in CPM have an analytical mindset, exhibit intellectual curiosity, and come from diverse academic backgrounds. The ideal candidate brings solid experience in product management and a growing understanding of business processes and applications that support contract lifecycles-including hands-on familiarity with designing, scaling, or supporting custom, in-house built workflow engines, document management systems, or proprietary CLM platforms.

You are analytically minded, collaborative, and eager to deepen your expertise. The role requires collaboration with different functions across the firm on a regular basis, an ability to work independently, and the ability to interact with senior professionals across the firm. You will work closely with engineering, operations, legal, compliance, procurement, and senior leadership to help define and execute a product vision for contract lifecycle support that leverages AI tools, intelligent automation, and modern engineering practices to drive measurable impact across the firm.

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

  1. CLM Product Support: Support the product lifecycle for our proprietary CLM platform-contributing to discovery, requirements definition, delivery, and ongoing optimization under the guidance of senior product leaders.
  2. Requirements Definition & Documentation: Define functional and non-functional requirements for new CLM features (such as clause libraries, automated workflows, and e-signature integrations) and work with Engineering and Strategic Delivery Partners to ensure that the delivery of these requirements aligns with business objectives. Create detailed documentation, including business process flows, user stories, and use cases.
  3. AI & Automation Contribution: Help champion the use of AI tools, machine learning, and intelligent automation (such as Natural Language Processing for contract parsing, automated risk scoring, and intelligent clause matching) to streamline contracting processes. Partner with engineering teams building and deploying AI-powered capabilities.
  4. Business Process Expertise: Develop and apply subject matter expertise in contract management workflows-including contract intake, drafting, negotiation, approvals, execution, obligation tracking, and renewals-translating these into clear product requirements and user stories.
  5. In-House Platform Expertise: Serve as a knowledgeable contributor on the custom architecture, configuration, and capabilities of our proprietary CLM platform. Support the optimization, integration, and enhancement of the CLM system within the firm's broader Source to Pay and ERP technology ecosystem.
  6. Stakeholder Facilitation & Alignment: Facilitate workshops, meetings, and demonstrations to align stakeholders (including Legal, Compliance, Procurement, and Business Units) and gather feedback. Act as a liaison between business users and Engineering teams to ensure successful implementation and adoption of CLM solutions.
  7. Testing & Quality Assurance: Lead the creation of detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on business requirements. Coordinate and oversee end-to-end system testing, including UAT (User Acceptance Testing). Identify, track, and manage defects using test management tools and deliver test status reports, dashboards, and recommendations to project stakeholders. Support post-go-live validations and ensure defect-free production rollouts.
  8. Platform & Integration Support: Assist in managing the integration ecosystem for the in-house CLM platform, including connections with upstream sourcing tools, downstream purchasing systems, and e-signature providers. Support assessments of existing capabilities and contribute to continuous platform enhancements.
  9. Collaborative, Influence-Based Teamwork: Work effectively within cross-functional teams - building relationships, fostering inclusive collaboration, and ensuring diverse perspectives inform product decisions. Help drive alignment across engineering, operations, procurement, legal, compliance, and senior leadership.
  10. Value-Driven Prioritization: Contribute to defining and maintaining a product backlog and roadmap that is prioritized by business value, ensuring the team delivers the right capabilities at the right time. Balance near-term operational needs with long-term strategic goals.
  11. Gap & Pain Point Analysis: Identify friction points, inefficiencies, and risks within current contracting processes and systems. Translate these into actionable technical requirements and product enhancements.
  12. Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate with other Product Managers and stakeholders across CPM and the broader firm to ensure CLM solutions integrate seamlessly into the firm's operational ecosystem and deliver a consistent, low-friction experience.
  13. Metrics & Performance Management: Help define, track, and report on key performance indicators to measure product success, user adoption, process efficiency, and business impact within the CLM domain.
  14. Industry & Innovation Research: Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies (particularly in AI/ML, Large Language Models for legal tech, and automation as applied to contract management), and competitive landscapes to inform and strengthen the product roadmap.
  15. Agile Delivery: Actively participate in the agile development process - writing user stories and acceptance criteria, grooming backlogs with developers and designers, and helping ensure high-quality, timely delivery of features and functionality.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Minimum of 3 years of Product Management or related experience (e.g., business analysis, project management, or operations) with exposure to enterprise business process applications, contract lifecycle management, legal operations, procurement, or related operational domains.
  2. Hands-on experience working with Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) platforms, with a strong preference for or experience in designing, scaling, or supporting custom, in-house built proprietary systems.
  3. Demonstrated experience working within or alongside complex technical ecosystems, including enterprise platforms, custom API integrations, and data orchestration layers.
  4. Familiarity with AI tools and automation - both as a practitioner leveraging AI to enhance productivity and in partnership with engineering teams developing AI-powered solutions (e.g., NLP, document parsing).
  5. Growing understanding of contract lifecycle management business processes - contract intake, drafting, negotiation, approvals, execution, obligation tracking, and renewals.
  6. Strong analytical skills and ability to summarize and present information at a management level.
  7. Clear and effective communication skills both verbally and in writing. Experience working in a global organization preferred.
  8. Knowledge of Agile change management and platforms like JIRA and Confluence or similar.
