Job description

Senior Associate, Product Manager - Fraud Workflows

At Capital One, we believe great products begin with a deep understanding of our customers. From our earliest days, we pioneered the use of predictive modeling to individually personalize credit card offers, turning the entire industry on its head. As we've grown bigger, we've found more and more ways to use technology and face-to-face conversations to understand the human problems associated with money and finances.

In the Consumer Bank, we've combined this human-centered approach with our heritage of data-driven decision making to design, build and test our way to truly enabling financial experiences. We've challenged ourselves to spend less time planning, more time doing, and, above all else, to see the world through the eyes of our customers as they work to understand and manage their money.

Are you passionate about improving the way people interact with their money? Are you driven by the delight you bring to customers? Do you keep asking, "why," until you hit the root? It's common to fall in love with solutions, but have you ever fallen in love with the problem? Do you have an opinion on whether shipping is more important than perfection? Do you have a healthy dose of skepticism for the impossible? If you're nodding your head, then we want you!

As a Product Manager focusing on our Consumer Bank products, you'll be joining a passionate team of product managers, designers, engineers, data scientists, and analysts working to redefine how millions of customers interact with their money. The primary goal of the Bank Product Fraud group is to modernize Fraud operations by building and enabling seamless, cohesive experiences through automation and Agentic solutions. You'll also be partnering with our GenAI teams to enable new and enhance existing workflows.

On any given day in the Bank you'll be:

  • Empowered. Part of a team responsible for defining the central data strategy for Retail Bank. Delivering data platforms that will drive how we embrace emerging technologies and power our business agenda by enabling real-time, intelligent decisions and creating a competitive advantage for the Bank and Capital One

  • Learning constantly. Work deeply with customers, associates, designers, technologists and data scientists to build cutting edge solutions

  • Innovating relentlessly. Pushing big change by asking bold questions; starting small, testing, and learning your way to something dramatically better

  • Sharing openly. Telling stories that change the way people think about building products and solving problems, and that illustrate the power of what software can do to make them even better

  • Connecting creatively. Jumpstarting a self-supporting community by sowing the right seeds, building the right tools, integrating the right off-the-shelf products and just plain elbow grease

  • Succeeding strategically. Solving the right problem and holding on the wrong one.

In this role, you'll learn the essentials of being a product manager, and we'll invest in you to grow in four key areas:

  • Human Centered

    • You'll collaborate with tech teams to build comprehensive acceptance criteria, identifying and elevating any need for additional research to define future feature design

    • You'll breakdown business epics into features and further into user stories, driving your team towards lowest effort or Minimal Viable Product (MVP) for a valid feature test

  • Business Focused

    • Demonstrating a growth mindset, you'll effectively use hypothesis-driven assessment of data to ensure your product or feature delivers on real business needs

    • You'll own and prioritize feature development roadmaps, ensuring all necessary processes and procedures are followed to manage risk

  • Technology Driven

    • You'll work autonomously in an agile environment, to conduct research and develop features that utilize new and evolving technology

    • You'll collaborate with designers, technologists, data scientists and subject-matter experts to build cutting edge solutions to help customers

    • You'll deliver well-managed product platforms for customers by seeking to understand technology trends and architecture strategy

  • Transformational Leadership

    • By actively participating in horizontal forums, you'll harness a network of trusted relationships among tech teams, designers, key internal stakeholders and partner teams

    • You'll articulate a succinct product roadmap to deliver business value and share with with stakeholders, elevating your team's results and becoming a product matter expert

We want you if you are:

  • Intellectually Curious. You ask why, you explore, you're not afraid to blurt out your crazy idea or follow an email chain for weeks to find someone with an answer. Comfortable with ambiguity, a hunger to learn and a seeker of new challenges

  • Communicator & Influencer. You can communicate complex ideas clearly regardless of your audience. Our team knows their priorities and why they're doing what they're doing. You always can rally associates to work with you

  • Do-er. You're biased toward action, you try things and sometimes you fail. You can get around roadblocks and stay focused on your goals. You're well organized, able to multitask and able to prioritize your work

  • Passionate & Customer Focus. You care about growing others and bringing them together around what's possible. You get a thrill from the journey of building and shipping products, and you have a desire and ability to connect with our external or internal customers to fully understand their needs

  • Learner. You have an appetite to learn new things or new technologies all while exhibiting humbleness when the time comes to ask for help

  • Team Player. You enjoy working with diverse people and driving the team toward a common goal. You have the ability to put the team before yourself and establish long-lasting relationships

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 2 years of experience working in Product Management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date:

  • Experience translating business strategy and analysis into consumer facing digital products
