Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking Equipment & Tooling Software Engineer (Associate, Experienced and/or Senior) specializing in Software and/or Controls Engineering in North Charleston, SC.

The selected candidates will join one of our specialized teams here at Boeing South Carolina. Additionally, these individuals will align to our software and controls engineering specialty within the 787 Equipment & Tool Engineering group. 

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate, Experienced and Senior Level Engineers.  

Position Responsibilities:

  • Architects, plans, implements, tests, and maintains software with the 787-production system including desktop, cloud-based, and industrial applications.

  • Learns and understands the underlying build process of the 787 Dreamliner to find, resolve, and recommend changes for production-grade software applications.

  • Owns software products in a DevSecOps manner from initial conception through retirement.

  • Programs, integrates, & troubleshoots automation systems from industry leading Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).

  • Serves as a subject matter expert related to acquisitions of software from vendors (including requirements definition, authoring, bid review, implementation oversight).

  • Generates system specifications from production system requirements.

  • Interfaces with end users and stakeholders to ensure completeness of solutions.

  • Develops, collaborates, and releases bid and purchase specifications for equipment and tooling needs which include software from suppliers.

  • Works in a cross functional team alongside manufacturing, quality, safety, services, research and technology, suppliers and vendors.

Work Authorization Statement: 

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at our North Charleston, SC location.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.

  • 2+ years of experience working in an engineering discipline application.

  • 2+ years of experience working in software development.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Level 3: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Level 4: 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 2+ years of experience working with any of two following technologies:

    • C++

    • C# / .NET

    • Golang (Go)

    • Python

    • Java

    • JavaScript

    • SQL or No-SQL

    • Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.)

    • Industrial Controls Programming or Industrial Control Systems Support

  • Experience in containers, containerization, or container orchestration.

  • Experience in Unix or Linux and Windows.

  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Familiarity with 3D Metrology processes and/or Spatial Analyzer software.

  • Familiarity with industrial control systems.

  • Familiarity with production systems and/or manufacturing applications.

  • Associate (Level 2): $85,000 – $115,000

  • Experienced (Level 3): $103,700 - $140,300

  • Senior (Level 4): $126,650 - $171,350
