Job description

The Opportunity:

Avantor is seeking a Sr. Process Engineer to work with business leaders on select projects and productivity process improvements that align with business goals and strategies. The Sr. Process Engineer uses analytical and industrial engineering methods and tools to understand, predict, improve, create and/or control logistics operations and processes.

** This is a full-time position that will be onsite at our Carpinteria, CA or Bakersfield, CA offices.

** Must be able to travel up to 25% (as needed) to Avantor distribution centers which include these locations: Carpinteria, CA; Bakersfield, CA; Irving, TX and Visalia, CA.

How you will thrive and create an impact:

  • Contributes to implementing new distribution processes, tools, data standards, or distribution strategies that will optimize inventory flow or improve delivery timelines.
  • Manages distribution related projects and/or processes, including performance tracking, process automation or system enhancements.
  • Leads continuous improvement initiatives through tools like Kaizen and Lean methodologies.
  • Works on problems and issues with a diverse scope, such as demand fluctuations or cost trade-offs, where analysis of information requires evaluation of multiple factors including supply chain data and market conditions.
  • Derives solutions based on limited information and/or precedents, often using forecasting models or distribution analytics tools.
  • Communicates with parties within and outside of the distribution function, including supply chain, procurement, and IT, and external parties.
  • Responsible for data management, analyzing performance, identifying problems, and developing recommendations that support logistics management.
  • Clarify and resolve complex business issues.
  • Manage data through data mining, data modeling, data analysis, cost/benefit analysis, process mapping and/or problem analysis.
  • Perform research and benchmarking on industry best practices related to warehousing and transportation.
  • Systematically interact with process owners and users to obtain feedback and to verify performance.
  • Manage the optimization of resources and processes in compliance with company policies/procedures.
  • Write SOPs and training documents to establish standard work and develop initial documents for new processes and systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for:

  • Education:
  • College Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Experience:
  • 3+ years of directly applicable experience in a similar position preferred.
  • Additional Qualifications:
  • SAP EWM experience desired.
  • Proficiency using MS Office Suite including Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Word.
  • Knowledge and successful implementation of Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methods and Lean Logistics.
  • Requires excellent project and people management skills and a strong understanding of logistics.
  • Ability to motivate associates using effective interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills.
  • Must be a self-starter, detail oriented and able to manage vendor/business relationships.
  • Excellent organizational, decision-making, problem identification and resolution skills.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$77,500.00 - $124,200.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
