Positions: Associate (1) and Sr. Associate (1), Portfolio Management & Impact Analytics - Investments

Employment Type: Permanent

Compensation Details:

  • Associate Position (Performance Risk Manager 16): Salaries typically range from $74,297 to $99,063 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
  • Senior Associate (Performance Risk Manager 18): Salaries typically range from $96,557 to $128,743 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

Location:

  • Export Development Canada operates under a hybrid work model, currently requiring employees to work from the office two days per week. Beginning in September 2026, the in-office requirement will increase to three days per week, implemented through a phased approach based on location.
  • These roles can be performed from EDC’s Headquarters in Ottawa. Candidates with a permanent residence closer to our Regional Hubs in Toronto or Montreal will also be considered.
  • Relocation assistance is available for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.

Team & Job Overview

EDC Investments is an evergreen investment group with over $4 billion in committed and invested capital that invests independently or in partnership with other investors under commercial terms, conditions and return expectations. EDC invests both directly into Canadian companies on a minority basis, and also through commitments to Canadian and select International private equity funds. We are long-term investors that leverage EDC’s multi-product capabilities, networks and knowledge, for the benefit of Canadian companies and their international growth aspirations.

The Portfolio Management and Impact Analytics teams supports the Investments function by mobilizing data and systems to optimize: i) market engagement activities; ii) investment management effectiveness; iii) the impact of our value creation strategies; and iv) capital management. This is a new function, where the successful candidates will contribute to the shaping and forming on the team.

The successful candidate will have 3+ years of dedicated experience in private equity or venture capital and accordingly will have: i) a deep understanding of the Canadian private equity capital ecosystem,: i) experience  with investment analytics; ii) strong data acumen; and iii) knowledge of the asset class, its participants, and practices. 

What you will be doing:

  • Works closely with partners and investment professionals to embed data-driven methodologies that brings measurable enhancement to the performance on sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio value creation
  • Contribute to the management of the Investments portfolio including: monitoring the performance of portfolio investments risk and performance analytics, forecasting and reconciliation between various financial reporting systems
  • Enable the ongoing assessment and valuation of individual investments which includes maintaining relationships with the leads of portfolio investments to provide or coordinate value added support to their growth strategies
  • Deliver actionable insights through improved forecasting and program-level reporting and analytics to track effectiveness of capital and value creation strategies
  • Data and technology enthusiasts, whom build reports, dashboards, AI prompts and analytics to deliver data centric optimizations to the risk program
  • Support enhancements to governance, systems and operations by leading special projects to redefine processes, reports, and/or operations
  • Be a key resource to all the individuals on the Investments Team, as well as liaison with the Technology, Risk, Finance and Corporate Reporting Teams
  • Demonstrate Teamwork - Works collaboratively and effectively with EDC customers and all internal and external stakeholders 

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong communication, collaboration and teamwork skills with the credibility to engage investment, risk and finance professionals
  • Ability to bridge communication between technical, finance, risk and investment teams
  • In-depth investment analytics, portfolio construction and capital modelling expertise
  • Data driven acumen, supported by emerging technologies and AI
  • Solid understanding of investment accounting principles and concepts
  • Strong technical and data acumen, including advance excel, querying, dashboarding (e.g. powerBI) and AI skillset

What we are looking for:

  • Associate Role: A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience within the private equity, corporate or venture capital investing industry, with a demonstrated track record of portfolio performance accountability, advanced analytics, and systems innovation
  • Sr. Associate Role: A minimum 5 years of relevant experience within the private equity, corporate or venture capital investing industry, with a demonstrated track record of portfolio performance accountability, advanced analytics, and systems innovation

What will make you stand out:

  • Experience at an institutional investor or pension fund
  • CFA, FRM, CAIA, CBV, or MBA/ MFIN or similar designation
  • Expertise in equity systems and data platforms (e.g. Preqin, Capital IQ, Pitchbook, eFront, Burgiss)
