Job Purpose:

This position will support a team of Commercial Bankers and help proactively manage the day-to-day responsibilities of the portfolios. They will assist in new business development efforts, including interacting with clients. This position will facilitate the Commercial Loan Process from inception to loan closing to the continuous monitoring acting as a liaison with the other departments and interacting with clients directly to improve the overall client experience. This role will involve an element of equine lending knowledge and requires experience with industry economics, asset valuation, and seasonal cash flow considerations.

Job Duties:

  • Proactively review the portfolio for maturing loans to ensure renewals and extensions are processed on a timely basis.
  • Initiate the credit process in the loan origination system.
  • Calculate loan and relationship profitability.
  • Assist Commercial Banker and other departments in interactions with clients and external contacts including accountants, attorneys, consultants and title agencies to facilitate the lending, credit and risk management process.
  • Work with the Credit Underwriters and Commercial Banker to ensure the credit memos are complete and thorough.
  • Review loan documentation to ensure consistency with the credit approval and resolve any changes and or modifications with the Closing Coordinator.
  • Facilitate loan closings in conjunction with or on behalf of the Commercial Banker.
  • Act as a liaison with the Portfolio Monitoring Group to ensure the timely receipt of financial statements, tax returns, borrowing bases and covenant calculations.
  • Act as a liaison with the Commercial Client Advisor Team to assist in any customer service issues, where unable to resolve on their own.
  • May also be responsible for the following in conjunction with the Commercial Banking Team Leader will:
    • Will perform on-going monitoring of the customer base for performance trends and covenant compliance. Will notify the appropriate Commercial Banker of any deterioration noted in performance or covenants on a timely basis.
    • Identify cross-sell opportunities in the existing portfolio and initiate partner introductions.
    • Support the Commercial Bankers prospecting efforts by identifying potential targets and contacts using third party B2B and social media platforms, providing industry research and facilitating marking campaigns.
    • Assist with the design and preparation of client and prospect presentation materials.
    • Assist in the preparation and presentation of the portfolioโ€™s quarterly client reviews.
  • Will perform special projects as assigned.

Education, Experience and Job Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or finance or equivalent experience in financial services industry required.
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial banking and/or underwriting required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on relationship building both internally and with clients and prospects.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and critical thinking skills.
  • Team oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient with technology and ability to learn new applications.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in business, accounting or finance or equivalent experience in financial services industry.
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial banking and/or underwriting.
