The University of Miami Health System, "UHealth", Department of Pediatrics - Infectious Disease has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Post Doctoral Associate to work in Miami.

The Postdoctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Postdoctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community.

Core Functions:

  • Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned.

  • Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing.

  • Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories.

  • Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.

  • Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Department Specific Functions:

  • Conduct experiments

  • Document research findings

  • Publish and disseminate research findings

  • Present at conferences

  • Mentor students/member of the lab

  • Write grants

  • Ability to multitask

  • Flexibility with work schedule to meet study demands

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MD or PhD in relevant field

  • Minimum 1 year preferred

  • Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.

  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Well-developed organizational skills

  • Investigative approach to shaping scientific questions

  • Research techniques

  • Laboratory safety

  • Experimental design

  • Data analysis interpretation

  • Statistical analysis

  • Literature search and evaluation

  • Knowledge of manuscript submission and peer review process

  • Writing manuscripts, white papers and progress reports

  • Writing funding proposals such as grants/fellowships preferred

  • Presenting verbal presentations in seminars, meetings and poster sessions preferred

  • Teaching
