Job Description
Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is seeking highly motivated Software Engineers to join our team. The role operates in a hybrid work environment in our Columbia, MD location and supports critical national security missions.
The software development team is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Minotaur Mission Processor.
The Minotaur Mission Processor (or Minotaur Mission System/Suite) is a cutting-edge, government-owned mission management software suite and system architecture. Its core function is to integrate and fuse multiple sensor and data sources-including radar, cameras, and communications equipment-to create a single, common operating picture (COP).
The Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and troubleshooting various elements of the software. You will be critical in the service of protecting our national security.

  • Senior Software Engineer : $111,494 - $175,204
  • Software Engineer : $90,166 - $141,799
  • Software Engineer, Associate: $72,209 - $113,470
Essential Job Responsibilities
  1. Research and concept development for solutions to unaddressed, critical military operational shortfalls.
  2. System design and software implementation of proof-of-concept prototypes incorporating a variety of engineering disciplines: control theory, software development, signal/video processing, pattern recognition, machine learning, artificial intelligence, high performance computing, applied mathematics, network/web services, and visualization.
  3. Support prototype evaluation, experimental operations at military facilities, and transitions of capabilities to government.
  4. Support system integration events on various aircraft during ground and/or flight tests
  5. Develop software interfaces to control and collect data from sensors
  6. Potential to fly on aircraft to support system integration and train operators
  7. Design and implementation of graphical user interfaces to meet customers' demands and needs.
  8. Willing to travel between 10-20 % of the time.

Minimum Qualifications
Senior Software Engineer (Software Engineer 3): 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
Software Engineer (Software Engineer 2): 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.
Software Engineer, Associate (Software Engineer 1): 0 years experience with Bachelors in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience.
Technical Skills and Additional Requirements:
  • Experience developing software with C++, Java, Javascript or related programming languages
  • Demonstrated experience working within a Linux environment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US level Secret clearance
Preferred Requirements
  • An active US level Secret clearance or higher

Physical Requirements
Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements Software Engineer family.
