Position Description:

At RSM, Tax Associates working in our Partner Returns Group develop strong working relationships with our U.S. partners built on understanding their needs and challenges. Tax Associates work face-to-face with our partners and team members during the entire compliance process. Working in a mutually respectful team environment helps our Tax Associates perform at their best and integrate their career with their personal life.

Requirements:

  • Working withthe high-net-worthfirm's U.S. partners.
  • Preparing medium/complex federal, state, and local tax returns.
  • Working on returns with multiple state filings, with knowledge of state pass-through entity tax, state tax credits, reverse tax credit, and any state specific additional credits and deductions.
  • Reconciling amounts in documentation provided by partners and identifying inconsistencies.
  • Leveraging tax knowledge and understanding of the tax preparation process to bring work to completion for review.
  • Staying current on tax legislation relevant to partners.
  • Demonstrating awareness of differing levels of assurance as it relates to tax positions taken through written documentation on complex tax issues.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 0-2 years' experience in public accounting with an emphasis in High Net-Worth Taxation.
  • Degree in Accounting or related field (Master's in Taxation a plus).
  • Ability to deal with highly confidential information.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks based on comparative importance and urgency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to work effectively on a team.
  • Possess a strong desire to learn.
  • Ability to work and multitask in a fast-paced environment.

The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $58,600 - $96,800
