Job description

Associate Paralegal - Massachusetts Staff Counsel Office

The Associate Paralegal will provide litigation support to attorneys handling Massachusetts bodily injury, motor vehicle accident, premises liability, PIP and other defense matters. The position requires organizational skills, attention to detail, experience in civil litigation, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, subpoenas, notices, and other litigation documents.
  • Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, mediation, arbitration, and trial preparation.
  • Coordinate depositions, independent medical examinations (IMEs), expert witness scheduling, and medical record collection.
  • Conduct legal and factual research related to Massachusetts civil litigation matters.
  • E-file pleadings and other documents in Massachusetts state and federal courts.
  • Maintain litigation calendars and track court dates, discovery deadlines, and other case-related deadlines.
  • Communicate with claim professionals, insureds, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel.
  • Maintain accurate case information in the firm's case management system.
  • Assist with preparation of trial exhibits, witness files, and trial notebooks.
  • Handle special projects as assigned and work independently with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • College degreeand/orParalegal certificate preferred
  • Must have strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be proficient with a computer (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and phone skills
  • Knowledge of Team Connect Case Management System a plus
  • The Applicant should be able to multi-task and prioritize work efficiently

The pay range for this position is $50,000 - $72,000 annually. Actual compensation will vary based on multiple factors, including employee knowledge and experience, role scope, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
