Job description

Under the direction of the Manager/Supervisor/Lead Person, the Mechanic A is responsible for preventive maintenance, minor repairs on all packaging machines. Also responsible for adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) that are in effect assuring the quality and quantity of product produced.

Responsibilities:

  • Must have knowledge and experience with repairing and maintaining mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC systems and industrial equipment. 
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Innovate and identify crafty solutions to their organization
  • Uses data to make decision.
  • Trains other team members in the areas of instrumentation, control, and electrical systems.
  • Most be proficient in electrical minimum 220 volts and above.
  • A high degree of working knowledge and practical application of instrumentation, controls, low, medium, and high voltage switchgear, transformers, programmable logic controllers, protective relays, and motor control centers. Performs maintenance on motor control centers, motor operated valves, programmable logic controllers.
  • Advanced troubleshooting technique used to diagnose the root of the problem and inspect, repair, and test the machinery.
  • Troubleshoot complex pneumatic/hydraulics system issues.
  • Use Reference Resources such as workbooks and drawings use technical manuals, their understanding of industrial equipment, and careful observation to discover the cause of a problem.
  • Maintain work area, maintenance shop, parts and supplies area cleaned and organized.
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must comply with GMP requirements; specific functions and documents will be discussed in GMP and on the job training
  • 5+ years maintenance professional experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment.
  • High school diploma or equivalency preferred
  • 3+ years in manufacturing/packaging experience.
  • Mechanical/electrical/electronic trade background
  • PLC experience (would be a plus)
  • Experience leading people

Role’s Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • Work environment may be exposed to powders, chemicals, and allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, milk, dairy, eggs, wheat, gluten, soy, fish, and shellfish).
  • Ability to work in a physically challenging environment, including bending, twisting, and standing for up to 8 hours is this something you would be comfortable with
