Job description

This full-time non-exempt position will supervise well-trained, competent staff of Monitors, who will perform all duties related to safety, security, control of residents and the sanitation of the facility, in accordance with Company and contract requirements.
Essential Duties:
๏ฟฝ Supervise, train, develop and monitor the performance of competent monitors.
๏ฟฝ Assist in developing and implementing work schedules to cover each shift in the respective facility in accordance with contractual requirements.
๏ฟฝ Ensure that resident supervisors complete all the duties required for each shift in accordance with contract and company requirements, for example: resident formal counts are conducted
๏ฟฝ Ensure compliance with all contracts mandated accountability issues included in the duties of resident supervisors.
๏ฟฝ Train new employees, listen and resolve complaints/problems, take corrective or disciplinary action, develop work schedules, monitor post assignments, and approve/deny PTO requests.
๏ฟฝ Conduct investigations regarding resident misconduct.
๏ฟฝ Ensure proper contract agency and Company policy orientation/training for operations monitors on a continuing basis.
๏ฟฝ Effectively communicate to staff, inmates, and visitors in situations requiring tact, diplomacy, understanding, fairness, firmness and good judgment.
๏ฟฝ Conduct inspections of all housing units and general use areas to ensure that proper standards, facility operating procedures and agency guidelines of security, health and safety sanitation are maintained; direct staff and residents on how to correct problems detected.
๏ฟฝ Review reports and documentation produced on the shift and ensure to properly process all reports and documents in a timely manner. Prepares disciplinary reports and other administrative reports using appropriate grammar, format, policy and procedures.
๏ฟฝ Ensures appropriate action is taken to prevent or diffuse potentially disruptive situations.
๏ฟฝ Ensures there is adequate staffing in post areas led fills in as needed during periods of short staffing.
๏ฟฝ Ensure that all monitors maintain active CPR and First Aid certifications.
๏ฟฝ Participate in required training and development sessions.
๏ฟฝ Maintain a working knowledge of supervisory skills; and participate in the evaluation of operations monitors.
๏ฟฝ Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations/Sr. Operations Manager.
Required Knowledge, Abilities, and Experience:

๏ฟฝ Modern correctional principles and practices as they relate to resident accountability;
๏ฟฝ Contracting agency Statement of Work;
๏ฟฝ Company and contracting agency policies and procedures;
๏ฟฝ Company and contracting agency chain of authority;
๏ฟฝ Duties and responsibilities of effective supervisors;
๏ฟฝ Duties and responsibilities of resident supervisors.
Ability to:
๏ฟฝ Work a rotating schedule;
๏ฟฝ Establish authority and communicate for understanding;
๏ฟฝ Communicate effectively, orally and in writing with all levels;
๏ฟฝ Practice teamwork and manage conflict.
๏ฟฝ Conduct investigations and submit detailed written reports.
๏ฟฝ Identify and report problem areas timely and accurately.
๏ฟฝ Assign and follow-up on assignments for completion.
๏ฟฝ Organize and supervise resources and projects;
๏ฟฝ Train, evaluate, review, develop, discipline, and document personnel actions.

Work and Academic Experience
This position requires High School Diploma (or equivalent) required. An associate's degree preferred with advanced supervisory/management training. One (1) year as an Operations Monitor or two (2) years related experience in a similar field. Demonstrated leadership experience is preferred. First Aid and CPR certifications, a valid driving license and a clean driving record are required.
