Operations Coordinator - SNS
Position Summary:
Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the School Nutrition Services (SNS) Department in support of Oklahoma City Public Schools, Oklahoma State Department of Education, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), its policies, laws, and regulations by monitoring and approving, processing, reporting, and auditing. Assures quality production is performed using best practices for school food service. Supervises and supports 60-100 staff members across 12-18 school sites.
**This position has been classified as Safety Sensitive in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act and/or the Department of Transportation (DOT), and Board Policy G-37-R3 Medical Marijuana & Safety Sensitive Positions Regulation. All candidates selected for hire or transferred into a Safety Sensitive position must undergo and pass a pre-employment drug screen before being hired or transferred. Employees holding safety-sensitive positions may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment, if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.**
Essential Duties:
  • Ensures district compliance with all local, state, and federal guidelines, rules, and regulations applicable to the SNS Department, as well as the terms and conditions of the support employee's negotiated agreement.
  • Works with the Associate Director to establish measurable and achievable financial objectives and goals for the department. Responsible for revenue accounting and projections.
  • Implements efficient management techniques to ensure all records and supporting documentation are maintained in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, laws, and policies.
  • Supports the administration and management of office procedures and processes. Maintains operations by preparing policies and standard operating procedures. Implements production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards.
  • Recruits, selects, trains, and disciplines staff in accordance with policies and procedures; manages personnel matters including hiring, employee actions, and workers' compensation.
  • Assesses kitchen staffing standards on a yearly basis and recommends personnel allocations as necessary.
  • Establishes and drives annual growth in key performance indicators (KPIs), including reimbursable meals, through the implementation of alternative meal programs. Develops and executes targeted strategies to increase Average Daily Participation (ADP) across breakfast, lunch, and CACFP At-Risk meal programs.
  • Monitors, evaluates, audits, and recommends food, supplies, and service offerings. Assists in menu planning, surveys, and taste tests.
  • Optimize cafeteria time and point of service efficiency to ensure students have 20 minutes of "seat time" to eat.
  • Coordinates and supports the achievement and maintenance of professional standards among departmental employees by evaluating performance, identifying development needs, and facilitating targeted professional development opportunities.
  • Regularly monitors adherence to the District Wellness Policy.
  • Establishes and enforces sanitation standards and procedures as outlined by OSDH, Local Regulations & Child Nutrition Regulations
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by tracking emerging trends, attending educational workshops, and reviewing professional publications.
  • Assists and recommends developing and implementing marketing strategies.
  • Develops quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses, identifying critical control points, and implementing preventive measures.
  • Coordinates maintenance efforts in kitchen equipment repairs, installations, modifications, removals, and inventories.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required):
  • Bachelor's Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration, Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Service Systems Management or related fields required.
  • Five (5) or more years of relevant experience required.
  • Must obtain a ServSafe or approved Food Safety Management Certificate within 3 months of hire
  • School food services and/or culinary experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred
