About the Job:

The People Operations Associate provides day-to-day HR administrative support and assists in processing employee transactions across the employee lifecycle, including hiring administration, onboarding, relocation, compliance, promotions, transfers, and terminations. This role plays a key part in delivering a high-quality, efficient employee experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring a Positive FMI Employee Experience 
    • Respond to employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner, providing guidance on People Team processes and policies 
    • Serve as a first point of contact for employees' questions, escalating more complex issues as needed 
    • Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to the People Team and assigned client groups 
  • Employee Transactions & People Team Operations Support 
    • Support the maintenance of employee records in HR systems, including updates related to promotions, transfers, manager changes, salary changes, and terminations 
    • Assist with onboarding activities, including background checks, I-9 verification, and new hire data entry 
    • Prepare standard employee documentation such as verification letters 
    • Provide administrative support for programs such as immigration, relocation, and mobility, as needed 
  • Data Accuracy and Reporting
    • Maintain accurate and confidential employee data in accordance with company policies and data privacy standards 
    • Perform data entry and audits to ensure consistency across HR systems 
    • Support basic reporting requests and assist in gathering information for audits under supervision 
  • General Support and Continuous Improvement
    • Assist with job description administration 
    • Help organize and maintain electronic personnel files, including routine audits and record retention processes 
    • Identify opportunities for process and experience improvements 
    • Monitor and respond to People Operations shared inboxes and communication channels (e.g., email, Slack, ServiceNow) 
    • Support additional People Team projects and tasks as assigned 

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience 
  • 0-2 years of experience in human resources, administrative, customer service, or related fields (internships included) 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism 
  • Experience working with HR systems (e.g., Oracle) or similar platforms 
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail 
  • Demonstrated customer service skills with a proactive, "can-do" approach 
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Boston, MA is $63,000 - $75,000 per year. The salary range is commensurate with Foundation Medicines compensation practice and considers factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, external market conditions, criticality of role, and internal equity. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for Foundation Medicine's benefits.
