About the Role

This opportunity is with a well-established multidisciplinary firm with over 40 years of experience delivering architectural, engineering, surveying, and construction solutions. The firm partners with major public-sector agencies, including NYSDOT and NYSTA, and is actively involved in complex transportation infrastructure projects across New York City.

They are seeking an experienced Bridge Inspection Team Leader to lead federally compliant inspections on technically challenging bridge structures throughout NYC. This role blends hands-on field inspection with leadership, technical evaluation, and regulatory compliance.


Role Overview

The Bridge Inspection Team Leader will lead NBIS-compliant inspections, oversee inspection crews, and ensure accurate reporting and documentation. This position requires strong technical judgment, leadership capability, and in-depth knowledge of bridge safety standards.


Key Responsibilities
  • Perform NBIS-compliant inspections of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and traffic support structures

  • Serve as Inspection Team Leader, managing planning, scheduling, field execution, and reporting

  • Lead inspection projects of varying size and complexity

  • Conduct detailed field inspections using appropriate access methods and tools

  • Review drawings, survey data, aerial imagery, and technical documentation

  • Support project design efforts in alignment with engineering standards

  • Manage sub-consultants and internal teams

  • Assist with proposals and project documentation

  • Participate in client meetings to discuss scope, findings, and progress

  • Mentor and manage inspection staff performance


Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience performing in-service bridge inspections

  • Must meet NBIS Bridge Safety Inspection Team Leader requirements (23 CFR 650, Subpart C)

  • Completion of FHWA-approved bridge inspection training

    • NHI 130055 & 130053 or NHI 130056

  • Authorization to work in the United States
