POSITION SUMMARY
The Network Engineer is responsible for assisting with support of the district's mission critical infrastructure, network services and application pathways. This position is responsible for assistance with network troubleshooting and topology management. The responsibilities include providing routing & switching services, Wi-Fi services, network configuration changes, network monitoring, documentation, telephony assistance and project management. This role requires a forward-thinking professional with exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to harnessing technology to enhance educational outcomes.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Associate degree or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree or technical certification preferred, or technical certification preferred. Relevant Certifications: Cisco CCNA and/or CompTIA Network+ certifications preferred Work Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Wide Area and Local Area Networking, switching and routing.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Proficiency in Local and Wide Area Network wired and wireless environments.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience installing and configuring routers, switches, and wireless access points.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve network system faults.
  • Ability to contribute to the development of network security procedures and perform network management activities.
  • Understanding of LAN/WAN network topologies and protocols.
  • Experience with DHCP, DNS, and other supporting network services.
  • Knowledge of IPv4 and IPv6 routed network protocols.
  • Familiarity with OSPF and EIGRP routing protocols.
  • Knowledge of VoIP handset maintenance, repair, and replacement (Yealink preferred).
  • Understanding of cybersecurity controls, access control lists (ACLs), and Cisco's AAA model.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with diverse groups and personnel at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills are important.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Customer-service oriented and a collaborative mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; thrives in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio, and networking equipment monitoring systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software applications to determine whether issues are related to software, hardware, or network components.
