Northrop Grumman's Corporate Sector's Chief Information & Digital Office (CIDO) is seeking a Principal Network Administrator to support its IT Infrastructure & Operations organization in Redondo Beach, CA. Please note that the selected candidate will be required to work on-site, full-time, at our Redondo Beach, CA campus, and that this is not a remote work opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain smooth operation of LAN/WAN/VPNs.
  • Plan, design, configure, and install network hardware in support of customer requirements.
  • Maintain technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, firewalls, switches, WAN accelerators, etc.
  • Propose solutions to management to help ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage are met, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.
  • Prepare and ensure that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.
  • Provide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems.
  • Coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment and assist with network design, to include selecting hardware and software packages.
  • Lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree and 7 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree and 3 years of relevant experience; a High School diploma or equivalent with 9 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of completed degree.
  • Applicants must have a current U.S. Government Secret level security clearance (at a minimum), to include a closed investigation date completed within the last 6 years, or must be enrolled in the DoD Continuous Evaluation Program (CEP) in order to be considered; the required security clearance must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
  • Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (ie: Security+ CE) or greater, or be able to obtain certification within 6 months of hire date; the required certification must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
  • Must have experience with Cisco hardware including routers, switches, and firewalls.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Systems related field.
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret/SCI level security clearance.
  • Current professional certifications (eg. Cisco CCNA, CCNP, CCIE).
  • Previous experience troubleshooting network procedures and best practices; experience with network challenges associated with systems integration, including COTS integration, capacity analysis, and system architecture design.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of network analysis tools (i.e. SolarWinds, WireShark, Riverbed App Transaction, etc.).
  • DISA STIGs knowledge and/or implementation experience.
  • Network encryption devices experience.
  • Cisco Call Manager experience.
  • Cisco TelePresence equipment experience.

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
