Job description


MBDA Incorporated is seeking a highly skilled and service-oriented Systems Administrator to join our Information Technology team in Huntsville, AL. This position plays a key role in supporting MBDA Inc.'s business operations by maintaining reliable, secure, and effective information technology systems, office technology, endpoint devices, and infrastructure.


The Systems Administrator will support a broad range of business requirements, including general employee work activities, internal and external communications, engineering and technology development, data storage and protection, manufacturing operations, and business continuity. This individual will provide hands-on technical support across office, engineering, and production environments while helping maintain the availability, performance, and security of MBDA's technology infrastructure.


Working closely with employees across the organization, the Systems Administrator will troubleshoot technical issues, administer endpoint and network technologies, support facility and manufacturing systems, maintain IT assets, and contribute to infrastructure improvements and cybersecurity initiatives. Core working hours are Monday through Thursday from 6:00 am to 3:30 pm and Friday from 6:00 am to 10:00 am.


Key Responsibilities


End User Support

  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, peripherals, and related technologies.
  • Diagnose hardware and software issues and resolve or appropriately escalate technical problems.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows workstations, laptops, and mobile devices.
  • Manage user accounts, password resets, access requests, authentication issues, and related user administration activities.
  • Support collaboration and productivity tools used throughout the organization.
  • Respond to and resolve help desk tickets in accordance with established service levels and IT procedures.


Network and Infrastructure Support

  • Troubleshoot wired and wireless network connectivity issues.
  • Support and maintain switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, and related networking equipment.
  • Assist with network monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Diagnose issues involving TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN connectivity, VLANs, and network security.
  • Coordinate with other members of the IT team to identify and resolve infrastructure issues.


Endpoint and Asset Management

  • Maintain accurate inventory and lifecycle records for IT assets, equipment, and endpoint devices.
  • Support deployment, configuration, maintenance, and replacement of endpoint technology.
  • Assist with endpoint protection, vulnerability remediation, patching, and cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Help maintain compliance with established IT asset management, configuration, and security standards.


Facility Technology Support

  • Support facility security camera systems, video management systems, and associated technology infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot conference room technology, including displays, projectors, video conferencing systems, audio equipment, and room scheduling solutions.
  • Support wireless networking infrastructure throughout office and production facilities.
  • Coordinate the installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of facility technology equipment.


Manufacturing and Engineering Support

  • Troubleshoot technology issues involving industrial PCs, barcode scanners, label printers, handheld devices, and production-floor equipment.
  • Support enterprise resource planning (ERP) tools, engineering software platforms, and other business-critical applications.
  • Assist with maintaining network connectivity for manufacturing equipment and shop-floor devices.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and other functional teams to resolve technology issues affecting operations.

Documentation and Continuous Improvement

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, work instructions, and knowledge-base articles.
  • Document incidents, troubleshooting activities, corrective actions, and resolutions.
  • Identify recurring technical issues and recommend sustainable, long-term solutions.
  • Participate in IT projects, infrastructure upgrades, technology deployments, and process-improvement activities.
  • Assist with maintaining IT standards, policies, procedures, and industry best practices.


Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering Technology, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Minimum Experience of 4-6 years in IT support, desktop support, systems administration, help desk, or related environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft applications.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and wireless networking.
  • Experience supporting computer hardware, peripherals, endpoint devices, and related technologies.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and technical issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting manufacturing, engineering, production, or other operational technology environments.
  • Experience with database management and SQL.
  • Experience using scripting or programming languages such as PowerShell or Python.
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, and engineering software applications.
  • Experience supporting security camera systems, video management systems, and physical security technologies.
  • Experience with conference room audiovisual systems and video conferencing platforms.
  • Knowledge of enterprise wireless networking technologies and solutions.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, and endpoint management platforms.
  • Experience with IT ticketing, help desk, and asset management systems.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, Cisco, or similar industry certifications.
