Job description

Overview

Central Health is seeking a skilled board-certified physician to serve as Associate Director of Specialty Care, providing both clinical and administrative leadership across multiple specialty services. This role includes direct oversight of specialty programs, supporting high-quality, coordinated care delivery while advancing operational efficiency and clinical excellence in service to underserved communities in Travis County.

In partnership with the Director of Specialty Care, this position provides administrative leadership and clinical oversight across multiple specialties. Responsibilities include supporting program development, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities, and promoting consistency in access, quality, and care delivery across specialty service lines.

The Associate Director maintains 0.6 FTE in direct patient care, delivering consultation and ongoing specialty care in collaboration with patients, families (as defined by the patient), and interdisciplinary teams. The remaining 0.4 FTE is dedicated to administrative leadership, including oversight of specialty operations, provider support, and quality improvement initiatives.

This role also supports the education and mentorship of learners at various levels and may supervise advanced practice providers during direct clinical practice.

Responsibilities

Provides appropriate consultation and continuing care for patients with problems related to their respective medical specialty as defined in specialty specific job description.Instructs patients and their families regarding procedures performed, plan of care, and followup visit. Directs professional and ancillary health care staff during treatment of patients. Responds to inquiries from staff and patients regarding care and treatment.Compiles patient medical data including health history, treatment plans, results of physical examination, etc. and records in electronic medical record.Actively communicates with others in a clear, understandable, and professional manner in person and on the phone.Demonstrates professional management skills, including planning, organizing, and scheduling work in an efficient and productive manner, focusing on key priorities and meeting deadlines.Actively interact with peers, executives, employees, and consultants in a manner that represents Central Health positively.Plans, promotes, demonstrates, recommends, and coordinates high standards of medical practice. Performs other duties as assigned.People Management/Department Management/Business Unit Management:Actively supports the Director of Specialty Care to support employed and contracted providers within the department.Essential FunctionsWorks in tandem with Central Health's operational and clinical leaders to ensure a collaborative team-oriented environment.Leads and motivates the medical providers under his/her supervision; uses effective medical and people performance management processes.Performs or supports objective annual evaluations of all direct reports with the input from the practice leader and other stakeholders.
