Position Summary:

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will serve as an engineering & manufacturing subject matter expert for our client across various programs requiring product design and development knowledge. Your knowledge and expertise will be widely applied across their broad client base from various industry domains such as aerospace, automotive, other defense sectors. You will provide leadership around new technologies and methodologies while working with their clients in defining the future state for their engineering and manufacturing strategies. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, analyzing, and reviewing the procedures and processes involved in product design and manufacturing. As a key member of the Customer Engagement Team, the Mechanical Engineer is responsible for executing against key milestones and deliverable timelines. This role requires client-facing interaction with project teams to meet aggressive timelines and deliver effective client solutions.


Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute the development and refinement of 3D Technical Data Packages (3D TDPs) with a cross-functional engineering team to aid in part procurement and manufacturing activities, including value-added and reverse engineering activities.
  • Conduct and review analyses of part production processes, control plans, schedules, methods, and other data to better understand future requirements needed for customersโ€™ manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in supplier audits for manufacturing capabilities and adherence to design requirements
  • Work with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality Engineers to identify design, manufacturing, and procurement complexities and schedule engineering activities based on priority and need dates.
  • Drive technical execution of projects around focus areas of Industry 4.0 / Digital Factory / Model-based Enterprise / Advanced Manufacturing / Additive Manufacturing.
  • Perform accurate / professional documentation and presentation of technical data, analyses, and reports.
  • Review manufacturing instructions, methods, and processes to identify and improve customer efficiency.
  • Develop design and manufacturing process strategy documentation with supporting technical analysis for improvements, including streamlining any TDP development through the creation of standardized processes.
  • Work with suppliers to solve engineering and manufacturing feasibility questions in real time.
  • Support active feedback between customers and the A&D team to drive improvements.
  • Review part production run results, including dimensional & test results, to verify โ€œas designed vs. โ€œas manufacturedโ€ part requirements.
  • Partner effectively with A&D project/ program management, technical team, and customer to deliver according to agreed plans and schedules.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of issues as they arise and initiate corrective actions.
  • Ability to manage deliverables and execute tasks on time with minimal oversight.
  • Work with end-user groups to evaluate and solve technical problems.


Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Material Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 4+ years related engineering experience
  • CAD experience (Creo/ Solidworks preferred)
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines concurrently
  • Expertise in GD&T
  • Expertise with design, manufacturing, and testing of machined, forged/cast, or fabricated aerospace parts
  • Experience with design for manufacturing, assembly, reliability, and cost
  • Demonstrated time management and project management skills
  • Ability to lead small teams of cross-functional engineers
  • Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively and work with business and technical stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal, and influential skills
  • Availability for travel to customer locations as required; estimated at up to 30% - client dependent
  • This position requires U.S. citizenship to meet federal contract/security clearance requirements.


Desired Qualifications

  • 2+ years team lead / engineering project manager experience
  • Masterโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification
  • LEAN, Six Sigma, or other process certifications
  • Experience with Project Planning tools
